Office administrator Elsie is dubious about the two candidates applying to become secretary at the printing firm. Sharon arrives late and appears to be inexperienced and a bit of an airhead. After seeing her in action, Elsie grudgingly admits she might be a good hire.
Sharon is late again; Elsie tries to coach her towards being punctual, then also towards selecting a classier boyfriend.
Elsie suggests Sharon learn to make a budget; Sharon's brother and boyfriend stalk Elsie's house in the mistaken belief Sharon is visiting a rival admirer.
Elsie wants to go to North Africa for her vacation, but her mother in law gives her a hard time about it. She conspires with Sharon and her gran to find a way to distract her so she can go.
Sharon has a toothache. Gossip exposes an inter-office affair, and Sharon overhears the culprits and shares what she's heard with Elsie.
The owner's nephew visits the office and flatters Sharon into thinking she has potential to be a professional model.
