And this show is about truly friendship and I love it but Aidy tell me there's another season and it's a surprise.
WHERE WAS RUTHIEEEEE??? I missed her!!! Patti is the reason I started watching the show so it was sad she wasn't in the finale :( I guess because of covid and schedules. Thankfully we have Together Together and Made for love.
"I'm just annoyed I have to consider someone [...]" that pretty much sums up Annie!
I actually don't hate the ending, cause come on getting a happy ending when you are in your late 20s sounds impossible, you can't get a happy ending cause you have like 60 years left, but maybe it was missing some clousure while they moved on to the next chapter of their lives, but it's funny cause they were about to get it but they had to fck it up, tho I'm confident Fran realized her mistake and apologizes to Em and they start this new chapter of their lives together; as to Annie, she's screwed, there's no much we can do to help her. Why she had to ruin something good? or anything good for that matter?
Which takes me to the million dollar question: Is Annie supposed to be likeable? Cause I didn't like her at all. She's deranged and not in the good way.
I'm conflicted about this show cause the premise was good, like a fat woman's journey to self acceptance, a fat woman just trying to exist without being criticized (just for her weight) and without having to justify herself, but I think only the first episode was about that, the rest of the series was about an adult woman whining and crying cause the world doesn't bend towards her, she ditched any attempt of growth by staying with Ryan for most of the show and she was so selfish, self centered, snobby, and a terrible friend. She's like peak white american woman but kinda worse cause she shields behind her fatness to be untouchable like "yes I went to stalk your ex wife and made things worse between you even tho you were already going through a difficult divorce but you can't be mad cause I did it cause I'm insecure cause I'm fat" or "yes I wrote a shitty out of touch article that gives a platform to white supremacists but I only did it cause I'm fat and didn't wanna write about yes fat queen anymore." I think the show was conscious about this and they reflected it through Gabe but even if there was some awareness to it, FULL awareness would be giving this platform to someone else, like making this show around The Weekly Thorn instead and all of its writers, including Annie but not making this revolve around her, cause if you take away a few pounds off of her, what does she have? or make this show about Fran, that would be something.
So I don't have anything good to say about Annie; I remember when I watched the first episode and added it here, I read a comment body shaming Annie and saying she was a hater or something, and I was like that commenter is such a loser, and my point stands! We don't support body shaming, let people do what they want with their bodies, if someone's bigger or smaller it doesn't affect us at all, and I'm just gonna say that even tho Annie had many flaws she was never a hater and she was always respectful of other women and their bodies! So lets take that one lesson from her!
The show was enjoyable, it gave us great characters (Fran, Amadi, Ruthie, Maureen, Ricochet, even Gabe, Em). And it's good to always have diversity on the screen!

Not going to lie, I was kind of mad at the ending. After watching the entire series, it felt like there had been no growth and in turn, no happy ending. I was hoping that Annie or Fran would have learned something about themselves and change for the better.
