Do you vaguely remember some of the dialogue or themes from Snowpiercer that made you go, "Oh, hmm, I seem to be finding myself more drawn in and watching this movie for longer than I thought I would." Whatever was in that uneven and ever-short-changed version that you thought might be explored more or given time to breathe, doesn't happen. Honestly, the name and the fact that it's a train are about the only things that constitute this version's identity. Who of any age and TV experience hasn't watched pushing 100 or more detectives or cops? Can you honestly say theater-kid-to-the-max Daveed Diggs was appropriately cast? Is Jennifer Garner bringing any sense of mystery or gravitas to the role in her Wizard of Oz/sidekick fantasy? Do you feel anything for any class, let alone rider, or what distinguishes them?
Like so much before it, reboot/rehash/recycled idea has completely betrayed its source material, landed a spot on a network you weren't exactly salty or ambivalent about, but mostly watched what was on when you couldn't be bothered to find the remote. So, with that blessing, if you happen to turn on some device and televison's Snowpiercer is playing, and you have no idea it was a movie first, thank your arthritic hands because you're in for a nominally passable and tired ride.

I put off watching this for so long because I was worried that I wasn't going to like it and I was kind of right. What started out as an interesting premise and a few great character arcs slowly descended into chaos. The show was trying to follow so many character arcs at once that it allowed itself to become stale.
Plot developments became less interesting and I was struggling by the time I got to the end of season 3. Jennifer Connelly as Melanie was a really good casting choice for this series but she should have been in this so much more. I feel like, had she been the principal character then the show would have been somewhat redeemable.
That isn't me saying that there isn't good to this show. As mentioned before it has a good premise and some of the acting was really good. The overall story arc of season 1 was excellent but sort of dropped off as the show went on. The introduction of Melanie's daughter Alex and the tension they had between wasn't a surprising addition to the series but it was a welcome one as it added to the intrigue.
I'd be interested to check out the fourth season upon release but won't be in a rush.
