Can see they are pushing further inner exploration and growth during these episodes. Not sure why there is so much hate for allowing the trek ethos to grow in this way. Think too many are not willing to move with the times and allow this show to deal with social issues like past trek shows have done in their own way.
Fucksake why are they still whispering? And now there's a language based on emotions and feelings? Stupid
Probably the worst away mission ever in the history of Star Trek.
I like this episode. Awesome planetary system, nice desert planet, the return of the interesting Tron suits, a concise goal for that away mission. First time it makes actually sense that the Captain goes on an away mission and it's one of the few times she's not saving the mission by acting like a super hero but instead works in a team. B-plot: a believable approach to the infiltration. The absence of stupid action scenes makes this show so much better. And not jumping from place to place makes the plot so much more believable. They encounter a mysterious place and an interesting species. An interesting way of conveying feelings and communication in general. This is the first time talking about feelings actually did make sense. Though they could have easily cut the eves dropping part with Adira talking about her insecurity, the training course in employee motivation and the "we're back let's blow some steam off in that cozy piano bar and talk about how we're doing" parts. All of that isn't totally BS but isn't it a bit too late into this season to start such character development? I mean, don't they have a ship to infiltrate, don't they need to act quickly because multiple worlds are on the brink of extinction and do they really need a "thumbs up" from a superior to be motivated in such a situation?
But as I said, I like this episode. Feels like Star Trek.
Think this episode has pushed me in the camp of Season 4 > 3 as much as I love 3A. Love the attention they're giving to the characters - it's spent the past few episodes addressing the complaint about not spending enough time with the bridge crew and it's moving in a clear direction. Plus, it's always great to see Jett Reno show up!
Sure, let's have long talks about how we can't afford to lose time!
Welcome back to another episode of Star Trek: Discovery of Feelings. They found 16 in this episode alone! Exciting!
Well, the planet exploration bits were solid (minus all the talk about those pesky feelings) and we got Tig Notaro back, which made me bump the score up a notch. Woop woop!
Not much of a finale if this was the end of the season.
Another episode about feelings. Garbage. I think I’m going to have to drop this show after this season.
Enough of that dramatic whispering, hyper-emoting anywhere on the screen. I'm not sure how and/or why a plot that fills a miniseries has to be dragged out into 13 episodes. None of the characters are in any way interesting enough or relatable - which is the main issue I have with this series. Well 2 more episodes and that's it for me.
Another gem of an episode. I really enjoyed this one. Can't wait for the next episode.
7/10
Good
Man I absolutely love
This show and every
Season has been
Outstanding and what
I love the most about
this particular Season
is it's so Star Trek
as in proper Trek.
It's not all about the big
fights and explosions
and out powering the
Bad guys this season
has made us part of the crew
we've spent some quality time
with each on an emotional level
to connect us even more
(Which is so
real by the way),
And first and foremost
Our main goal is not
to go after and "kill"
the Big Bad but to
Simply find a way-anyway
to communicate with them
and get them to stop,
peacefully if possible.
Now if that's not proper
Trek and all it
Stands for I don't know
What is.
(Change my mind).
The emotional scenes are starting to interfere with the actual progress of the plot. The past 2 episodes and this have started to become emotional scenes 30%, 40%, 50% of the screen time now, and it's diluting the plot progression too much. It took an entire episode just to find some powder on one planet and finally start heading towards the hyperfield.
It is good for awareness and character development when they bring real social/therapy situations into the show, as long as it takes up a max of 20% of the screen time, since this is a sci-fi series
But any more than 20% would be mutating the genre which violates the expectations fans have of a sci-fi show (for example, see the other comments of the past 3 episodes for what happens when you violate fan expectations)
Star Trek is a sci-fi show, not a K-Drama in space
Despite all that, I still like the "emotion powder" idea, even as biologically improbable as it is and as "shounen anime" ("emotions surpass all barriers" magic) as it's trying to be, I like it because it does tie in a useful tool they can use to negotiate with S10C without needing words that S10C may not even have ears to hear, or text that they may not have any eyes to read
I'm interested in what these space whales are going to look like, and how they get back into the Milky Way. Maybe they'll find Reapers (either directly from Mass Effect, or the ripoff of Reapers that Star Trek Picard showed at the end of season 1) out in Dark Space too who knows lol

Season 4 is getting better and better. An extremely Star Trekky Episode!
