Omg. This is definitely one of the funniest episodes of Star Trek I've seen. Didn't think it could be this funny. =P Loved it. The drama and tension at the end was pretty good though pretty predictable. Still enjoyed it.

I'm really starting to like Dr. Katherine Pulaski. Wasn't too sure about her at first, but I've really enjoyed her character and liked her storylines during the last 5 episodes or so.

Everytime I have seen this episode I don't know what to make of it. All of the characters are so clichéd. But it still caries an interesting topic about how societies live. The old ways against the new ways. The morality of cloning and if it diminishes the individum. Personally, I've never asked myself the question if I'd like to be cloned.
We have Riker doing a James T. Kirk and we learn a little bit more about Klingon culture. And in this episode for once I have no problem with Pulaski. Althought I don't understand where the test in bravery lies if you inject yourself an antidote.
Alltogether this feels like a leftover script from TOS.

Oh, this one was baaaaaad.
It totally felt more like a TOS episode (not a good thing). Funny (omg why?! not haha) for all the wrong reasons - stereotype and prejudice had a baby.

I must add though, the actors are not at fault here, they all did wonderful work with the shite they were given. Also, Rosalyn Landor's mesmerising eyes almost make some scenes palatable... almost.

That skirt removal was one of the lewdest things on the show yet, even though there was another skirt underneath and she was still entirely clothed. Hot damn.
This episode sucked otherwise, though. The clone stuff had potential, but it fell flat.

  • I always forget this episode exists. I want to forget it.
  • It's not funny.
  • Riker being Kirk
  • It's a shame what the franchise (TNG, Voyager and DS9) did in varying degrees to Irish culture. Will they ever stop to be the jolly, promiscuous, romantic, drunk countrymen dressed in rags?
  • There's a more serious story here too. Something about societies that develop differently because they chose to. And about cloning. I fail to see anything relevant or interesting here. The solution is more than unsatisfying. Who would want to live and have sex with these people? Three of them. Each. That sounds more like a gang bang party designed to make a conservative TV audience giggle. I don't think that's reason to giggle ....
  • I wonder why they didn't abduct Geordie when they had the chance? Is it because he's black and they didn't want to have his genes in their DNA pool?
  • The B-plot with Worf and Pulaski is totally unremarkable. I wonder why they even told this story. It lacks any sort of proper conclusion.

I think I was supposed to dislike this episode. Sorry, I don't!

this is one of the worst episodes yet. nearly as racist as the S1 episode 'code of honour', and doesn't exactly show women in a positive light either. for a show that has been lauded for its diplomacy and focus on talk rather than action, picard and crew are very assured in their bioethics, outright dismissing the notion of cloning. the conclusion is also ridiculous, in which the stereotyped irish and the clones are forced into copulation, despite their situations have seemingly nothing in common (besides around 5 minutes of screentime in which both narratives have to be hastily resolved). i know that TNG gets a lot better in S3 and S4, but my god, the decent S2 episodes are few and far between.

A little bit racy this episode which seems to suggest Riker bedded a woman he met merely minutes before! Changes my perception of his character. We learnt the Enterprise is self cleaning; even to the extent of dealing with farmyard animals.
