Again an inconsequential episode. Ain't that escape have any repercussions? It's classic Star Trek though: Mankind encounters an alien (in)justice system and needs to deal with that. We have seen this "crew members are trapped in an alien jail" story before. It's rather predictable. If it were not for the acting skills of that manifesto guy, it would even be worse.

Pretty boring episode with not much in there. Don't know what they wanted to accomplish. That given the circumstances everyone can be a killer ? That's a bit thin as they were manipulated by the clamp. Or maybe that a good heart can stand up to the urge of killing someone ? I don't know. Those would be good starting points but this episode dos not carry it. And since we already knew that Tom and Kim are friends there was no need to emphasize on that.

I remember watching this episode on first broadcast back in the '90s. Although it didn't make me give up on the series (that would come later), I clearly remember thinking, "hmm, Voyager really is a terrible show," and from here on out I never quite managed to connect with it again.

This is a cliché-ridden attempt at a serious prison story that comes off as nothing but pathetic and causes extreme eye-rolling. The characters are jokes and the progression of the story is painfully predictable. The only part of it I have good things to say about is Garret Wang's decent acting.
