Plays into a few too many tropes and is a bit cheesy - Voyager travels back to 1996 because that was the cheapest option then - but there's some nice nostalgia in watching it now in that the 90s feel so long ago.

Sarah Silverman's character is kind of derailing the whole thing at this point, they've written her in the most obvious and cliched ways possible. There always has to be a geeky inhabitant of the time period who just happens to be into sci-fi things.

"No time!", says the man in a time ship.

I did laugh at Neelix and Kes enraptured by a soap opera.

I love episodes based in the "past", but these writers obviously need education in science and engineering. It is just pathetic how bad the writers are at their job. There is no way 400 years of advanced physics could be understood so easily. It would be like having pre-revolutionary Americans pick up present day science in a few minutes or even a couple of decades. It isn't even remotely possible.

While the overall plot is quite good, the details are so bad that they seem to be written by a grade schooler.

Well it's not as political or relevant as Sisko's appearances in California's history but it's still fun. Very shallow family entertainment. Don't question physics or the logic of the plot - it's just an innocuous diversion which happens to be somewhat exciting and I'll accept it as it is. Plus, is that really how 1996 looked like?

I'll never get it that sophisticated people from the future can act so awkward when they go back in time. That's always where the humor derives from and, unfortunately, here it falls flat most of the time.

I like time travel, paradoxes, causality stories. But this really takes more emphasis on delivering a humorous story rather than a scientific one. And Starling is your quintessential, black and white bad guy. And, if he and the technology of the time ship is responsible for the computer breakthroughs, wouldn't taking back the ship and preventing that timeline lead to ereasing that progress ? That's something of a hick-up for me. There you have it. Causality.

Some nice qoutes:
Tom Paris: Simple: nice clothes, fast car - lots of money! - pretty much a describtion of the late 90's
Tuvok: We could've worn our Starfleet uniforms. I doubt if anyone would've noticed. - yeah, they would be thinking your're going to a Star Trek Convention ;-)

I really liked this two episode storyline, but even though I like Silverman, her acting doomed the scenes she's in.
