In a way it's nice getting those little side stories. They are necessary to a degree. And seeing Ezra struggling with the changes in his life adds to the character. I also love seeing connection to "Clone Wars". But if there's one character in the SW Universe I could live without, it's Hondo Ohnaka.
6.5/10 - I like the message of this episode.
Seeing Hondo again was s nice surprise - luckily Ezra didn't fall into his traps.
"You lied to me? I knew I liked you."
"Haha, I'm rich! I'm dead!"
Chopper really deserves quite some credit btw!
"I'm pretty sure we were friends." - Haha, I guess Hondo and the Jedi had an "interesting" relationship... xD
Luckily Ezra didn't went for a drink with him!
"I hate children." - and his favor is gone too - must suck but then again he shouldn't really complain...
PS: Would've been funny if Ezra had mentioned Ahsoka to Hondo and Hondo to Ahsoka xD
Was that the Lady Luck?

7.1/10. Alright, as a fan of Rebels's predecessor series, I'm definitely enjoying the ways in which the world of Clone Wars has slowly but surely been integrated into this one, but it's starting to be a little much. I really enjoy Hondo, and he had some of the funniest lines of the episode, is not the series here (his "bring back the most expensive drink you can find...and something for my friend!" line is classic borscht belt humor) but at some point it starts to feel like pandering rather than a natural extension of the two shows' shared universe.
That said, what I liked most about this episode is that it was just a fun caper. While I tend to like thematic states that help give narratives meaning, frankly, Ezra's "yo ho ho, a pirate's life for me" attempt to escape responsibility after he's feeling overscheduled after being coached up by both Kanan and Rex was fairly trite and, if anything, just contrasted from a more pure fun story of him bluffing his way through pirate-adjacent hijinx.
The return of Asmorgian is a sign that this is basically a companion piece to last season's Lando episode, a mostly standalone side-story that's just there to be fun and entertaining in the midst of some the higher stakes business that Rebels has been engaging in as of late. I like having that breather, and the twists, from the initial cool setpiece with Asmorigan, to the reveal of Visago's capture, to Chopper's autopilot twist at the end, kept things breezy and amusing. Making Ezra, Hondo, and Chopper a comedy trio is not something I would have necessarily come to naturally, but it worked surprisingly well.
Overall, the episode is pretty slight, mostly coasting on the charm of Hondo's silly "no honor among thieves" one-liners and thin prevarications and the general fun of this week's "mission." The notion of Ezra realizing he doesn't want the freedom of the pirate's life, and would prefer the responsibility but attendant rewarding nature of his work as a rebel comes off a bit flat, especially when it's underlined so bluntly in the episode's final scene, but when it's subtext rather than text, it does add a little bit to the light action and adventure of the episode.
