This referenced so many things established by the old X-Wing series of PC games: Y-wings using ion cannons to disable, the TIE Defender and its systems. It's also the most visually gorgeous thing the series has done with the stuff in the nebula.
The show has been doing much more impressive, epic storytelling recently as opposed to the silliness it gets caught up in.
[7.3/10] A nice episode featuring two great women of the rebellion. There’s not much to this one – it’s essentially one long, massive set piece, but it’s a sturdy episode that spotlights different ways these two individuals are daring and brave and help the rebels get everything to fall into place.
The chase through the nebula worked well enough. It provided enough mini-obstacles and left room for enough neat maneuvers, like Hera flying close to a forming star to shake off the new imperial prototype, or having the forethought to tell her allies to use their weapons on the nebula itself to blow up the imperial ships. The action got a little static at points, but it was solid throughout.
There was just enough cat and mouse to make it work. Again, I’m liking that Grand Admiral Thrawn is no fool, figuring out not only where Hera will go, but the right way to position the ships to catch her. While you knew the good guys were going to make it out unscathed, it made the Empire feel like they were a real threat who could catch our heroes off guard for reasons other than dumb luck. It was nice to see.
It was also nice to see Mon Mothma! Her conversation with Hera was a little blunt, as this show gets at times, but it was still nice to see her get involved in these proceedings and take some bold action in service of the rebellion. I appreciate the lore/world-building of her giving this speech, with the cuts to various rebel syndicates from our own heroes’ base to Bail Organa and company to the rebels we met on Lothal. It helps sell the scope and magnitude of what she’s doing. And the fact that Mon Mothma is publicly resigning as a senator gives it some greater force as well.
Overall, this isn’t going to be anybody’s favorite episode, but it’s a solid installment that includes some well-plotted action and strong showings from two of the most notable women in the burgeoning Rebel Alliance.
It's a bit surprising that the little "escape pods" of those infiltrator (?) droids have hyperdrives.
It's nice that Ezra starts flying ships! :)
The Nebula was kinda cool.
Mon Mothma sounds familiar but I lost track of the overall Star Wars storyline... :o It's also been quite a while that I last watched the first six of the main movies though. But the scene at the end was nice nonetheless.

Seeing the birth of the Rebellion was something I'd hope for a long time to be done in live action. But I take this one with pleasure. You may call a lot of this fan service. Well, I don't care and say thank you. This really resonated with me.
Plus, the nebula gas fire on the SDs looks absolutely amazing.
