When Mitchell is told that no student ever goes into the school library because of a mysterious book causing students who read it to disappear, he heads right for the library. And he drags his friends Becky and Templeton.

Ordered to tidy up a science lab by Abercrombie, Becky is distracted by an array of school pets in cages. Mitchell and Templeton are more interested in a Matter Transmogrifier - and there are soon giant rabbits roaming the halls.
In her never-ending quest for popularity, Becky attempts to join the cheerleading squad. Donning a manky old bunny costume, she seems to begin bringing very good luck to those around her.
Becky sets her heart on defeating perennial School President Stephanie Bethany. But Becky -- desperate for attention and victory -- soon finds herself running against a clay version of herself!
Following the breakdown of a swathe of antiquated equipment, the school board gives Strange Hill a full high-tech makeover, complete with CCTV-like monitoring, computerised dispensers and robotic teachers. But all is a little too perfect for Mitchell, Becky and Templeton's tastes.
