I love October. You can practically hear all of my favorite shows coming back from hiatus.
This was a really good episode. Like, really good. Thankfully, Superman didn't overshadow Supergirl at all. I'd been worried that that might happen - the media had been massively overhyping his appearance on the show before the season started, but he didn't steal Kara's spotlight, for which I'm grateful. Tyler and Melissa work so well together. It was a pleasure to watch their characters interact.
Lena Luthor seems pretty cool. I hope to see more of her soon.
Cat Grant is absolutely fantastic. I love her. What a shame that Calista is no longer a series regular. Kara and Cat's relationship is a delight to watch.
Kara and James didn't even last one episode, which is hilarious. Honestly, I'm glad. Let Kara focus on herself before you put her in a relationship.
We also got yet another British villain, the first glimpse of Project Cadmus and Alex Danvers kicking some bad guy ass (hell yeah!).
After a pretty shaky start and some serious improvement in season 1, Supergirl is now a well-balanced superhero show and also one of my personal favorites. And boy, am I glad that they moved it to the CW. To be honest, I didn't know what to think when I heard the news back in May, but it worked out extremely well. The pacing and the flow of the episode were significantly better than what we'd got used to in season 1. The dialogues were better. The editing was better. The atmosphere was better. Supergirl has always been charming, colorful and fun, and now all these qualities seem to have been amplified somehow. If this episode was any indication of how the rest of the season is going to look like, we're in for a treat. And I couldn't be more excited.
Help me Tyler Hoechlin's face is so adorable and I can't deeeeal
Also really enjoyed the episode otherwise, but yeah. Hoechlin!
I didn't realise just how much I missed Alex Danvers!
Really really good to see the character development here. Kara matured, Winn matured, even Cat's maturing. The odd magical resolution of the disagreement between Superman and Jonzz over Kryptonite was the only really bad spot of character writing. (The L Corp situation falls under "disaster writing", which I just expect to be bad in this—or any superhero—show.)
It's 2016 and the animations and the cgi are unbelievably terrible.. So..a professional executioner is hired to kill Lena Luthor and he tries to put a bomb in a plane to attack with drones and to bomb her speech..ofc he fails every time...but he is dressed as a policeman and approaches Lena pointing her with a gun before Supergirl appear..So why the actual hell you explode random bombs instead of killing her with the gun in the first place?Nobody would notice you..It makes zero sense..The whole collapse of the building scene was also a joke...Aaanyway Superman addition was cool...I would like to see him more with Martian Manhunter!!
Really good opening episode for this 2nd season.
We finally get Superman in the show which I think is overdue considering Supergirl is learning about herself and her powers, he should've really appeared properly at least once by now. He was worked really well into the show and didn't overshadow Supergirl...excellently done.
Kat is still about which is good, shame she won't be a regular, she's brilliantly played by Calista Flockhart.
The whole Kara 4 Jimmy romance has been put to bed which I think just had to happen as that was on a road to nowhere.
The introduction of Lena Luthor and Cadmus is most welcome. I think we're in for some interesting times ahead there.
My final point that I loved with this episode was the nod to Superman the Movie when Kat yells out "MISS TESCHMACHER!!!!!" Brilliant!
Perfect season premiere! All my worries about Superman overshadowing were for nought, he was actually pretty great to have on board for a bit.
Lena Luthor is going to be an interesting addition, Alex kicked SO much ass, Cat had some wonderful moments helping Kara find her place in the world we have a curious new villain on scene and Oh so very grateful that the writers have finally realised we don't want the James romance. Here is to an interesting season in front of us!
Yay the writers finally got the hint about the James and Cara mess
Better than every episode last season, except for maybe the flash crossover. So glad they're pumping the brakes on the Kara/James relationship. After Arrow, I don't think I could handle another should we / shouldn't we relationship.
Watching superman and supergirl together was great! Finishing the love story between supergirl and james was great! A very great start for a new season. Hope it goes as it is started.
This site needs a reminder.
Kara doesn't have time to go on a date with overly buff Jimmy Olsen, to fight crime with her cousin Superman. She minds and he minds but I don't mind. Since the shows only problem to me last season was Kara overly focused on James.
While something is wrong when Superman looks tiny next to Olsen. Otherwise this is a good episode due to many Kara and Superman scenes and very little Kara and James scenes.
Although Kara of course talks to Superman about James and he gives her advice about that relationship. When Superman is done better here than by Zack Snyder. They should definitely make things about James Olsen and Kara less.
Give us nothing but Kara and Superman team ups and you have a season much better than season 1. They just need to focus much less on the Kara and James relationship than season 1 did.
Superman being less brooding and only there to save Lois or Martha is already Superman done much better than Synder has done. Time for a spin-off next Fall. I like this Superman a lot.
Surprisingly good episode. Good chemistry throughout (especially with the Cara/Jimmy situation).
Highlight: the actor portraying Superman. Lowlight: the continuing saga of Jimmy Olsen and Kara. The writers for DC Television, constantly make their stories teen melodramas. Another lowlight for me is Superman's heat vision is now blue like Supergirl.
Great first episode, introduction to superman who was great, and Lena Luther who is played by Katie McGrath who I automatically assume is gonna become evil just coz she’s a Luther and I love Merlin and she plays morgana. Season 2 looking better than season 1 so far.
Really good opening episode, we finally got to see Superman teaming up with Supergirl. Although I hope that he doesn't begin to overshadow her as it is her TV show.
The fight scenes were all incredible in this particular episode and that scene where superman and Supergirl stop the building from falling over was great.
Next, I am glad to see that Katie McGarth has made her appearance in this show as Lena Author. She is one of my favourite actresses of all time and I don't have a shadow of a doubt that she will do this character justice as much as she does for some of her others.
And finally, Kara Danvers is going to be a reporter, I can't wait to see the show explore this plot further, I'm sure it will be great
This is how I like my superhero series! Action, drama, likable heroes, despicable villains...this is fun stuff indeed!
Why can,t I watch any tv shows, it not letting me watch any shows.
They make a good couple Supergirl and Superman. Cat Grant still fabulous, that Miss Tessmacher as Superman 1
Coule have been better, coule have been worse.Looks like Kara found another sidekick :/
Once more, it is the "Cat" who saves this show.
Can't figure out why but I just found this episode boring
so excited. come quickly October

I really liked Tyler as Clark, we finally got an upbeat Superman like it should always be. Great dynamic between Kara and Clark, the actors sold the part as the kryptonian cousins.
I'm glad we're going to see Kara as a journalist and I'm excited to have the beautiful Katie McGrath as Lena Luthor, who knows quite a thing about playing a devilish character, so I'll wait to see how honest Lena was about her intentions.
The way they finished Jimmy/Kara before it even started was weird but thank God they did it, now with Winn oficially part of the DEO and Cat not a main character anymore, I expect to see Jimmy's screen time reduced as he will be the odd man out among the cast, which I think is for the best, really.
Nice easter eggs with Ms. Teschmacher, Perry White's signature line and the mention of Gotham.
The aid of a bigger budget is already noticeable. Can't wait to see Metallo and more of Superman!
