We gain a Bobby and lose a Donatello. And while I kinda liked Donatello, he isn't Bobby. And once Jack shows that he's got some serious game, Bobby is on board and past his own understandable biases. So where does that leave us? With Jack, Mary and Bobby on the hunt in one world and Dean, Sam and Cass doing the same from the other, this probably isn't a good time to be Michael or Lucifer, no matter how strong they may be. As things play out over the remainder of the season, I expect the action to be intense and the body count to be high.
"We find those things we can bring everybody home. And together, we can best Lucifer and Michael. This is the only way we win, and this is the o ly way we survive. It's like you said, Dean. Whatever it takes".
This gotta be one of the best, if not THE best, episode this season. Everything's ready for the fight. There was some crazy shit going down in an action-packed episode.
It's a damn shame that next week's looks like it's gonna be a stop in the storyline. I don't know if it was for Bobby (man, did I miss him!) that we finally got to see the precious Jack again, or that Cas got S4 crazy, but I found myself enjoying the episode way too much. In fact, when the screen turned black and the credits appeared, I couldn't believe it was over.
Two different worlds, two archangels and everyone's getting ready for the fight. Jack unleashed his powers and Mary and Bobby are on the "let's destroy Michael" train, though I highly doubt it'd be that easy.
Cas was completely bonkers this episode. I was one of those who wanted Cas to go back to the one he was back in season 4, a pure soldier of God doing what he was told, but that was not what I was expecting. Donatello's demise was a goddam pity. I liked him, though I didn't grow to lovejoy as much as others and if I'm honest, since he appeared back in episode 2, I already knew he was a goner. During the episode I found myself thinking "Wow, a soulless prophet, now that's interesting". 5 minutes later, snap, he's dead. However, seeing Cas calling the shots regardless of what Sam and Dean told him was great, though. I'm excited to see what path he takes next.
Damn, alternative universe Zachariah's appearance was great, despite brief. He didn't show the wit that characterized him. He was nicer than the original but underestimated Jack. In fact, seeing him being blown up by Jack was so damn satisfying.
Little as we've seen of Michael, I already like him. Christian Keyes is doing such a great job and his portrayal is believable. Let's see what waits o the way. I just hope he's not a goner any time soon.
Jack! My precious cinnamon roll. I love him so damn much. He's so pure and innocent, yet he has the power to destroy everything and shape up the world. The writers are doing such a good job at balancing both his angelic and child-like innocence with his powerful and brave side. Honestly, he's one of the best characters this show's ever had. I just can't get enough of him!
How sweet and innocent was that puppet show? And helps doing moose and squirrel shadow puppets, lol. Those poor little apocalypse children were adorable, strong and brave. I loved how Jack tried to cheer them up with his puppet show. That was so adorably Jack.
"As long as Michael's out there, this war will never be over. I have to kill him". My little baby, off to destroy people.
I loved seeing Bobby again, especially when he interacted with Mary. I was looking for that actually. I loved how they said that Mary's deal prevented the apocalypse and I loved that it was Mary who realized that. The realization that she put her boys through a harsh life marked her behaviour last season. So having her realizing that her deal basically saved the world was a great development for her character.
Maybe it was just me, but this episode made me think that they're setting the story for Mary to stay in this alternate universe and help Bobby fight angels and demons because, somehow, she feels responsible for it. Let's see how it evolves but this episode gave me those vibes.
If there was one thing that I particularly loved were the camera angles. I loved, really loved those closeups. And the lighting in Michael land is always a sight for sore eyes. Damn, this season is giving us some of the best camera work mixed with some crazy hand held shots.
This episode was the perfect balance of comedy and darkness. The "flurry diapers" scene was so unexpected that I ended up laughing too much. The fact that Gog and Magog were basically half-naked Neanderthals was hilarious. Man, that was comedy gold, yet so awkward at the same time.
So now we're on the look for the list of ingredients for the spell:
- The grace of an archangel.
- A fruit from the tree of life.
- The seal of Solomon.
- The blood of "a most holy man".
I would submit a petition to stop angels's episodes. Bring me back Sam and Dean's old procedural episodes.
