Season 14. Easier said then done. I can't actually believe how hyped I was for this to start. That Michael-Dean combo has always been something that I'd like to be portrayed on my screen and finally, 9-odd years later there he is.
First things first, I couldn't be happier to see Sam like this. I've been liking Sam for the past few years but he was outstanding today. Truth be told, his attitude was the best part of the episode. I loved the parallelism between him being the leader of the hunters and him being the one driving the Impala instead of riding shotgun. Sam's behind the wheel now, both literally and figuratively.
I found the whole episode a bit slow and weak considering how season openers go. Season 4 and 13 were, by far, my favourite season openers, so it's hard to compete with that. But I have faith that they keep the pace up in the following episodes. As much as I love the boys together I don't want Sam to find Dean anytime soon. I want to see Sam evolving and becoming the leader he's supposed to be. Loved the beard too.
I was looking forward to seeing Jensen playing Michael and, even though he wasn't that much on screen (that guy knows how to rock a 20' outfit), I liked how different from Dean he was. His portrayal stayed true to the character. It was that intimidation through calm that he portrayed the one that gives me the chills. And he's willing to work with vampires, killers, demons, and with whoever comes his way.
Now, the only thing I need in future episodes is a scene reminiscing my all time favorite one, which is when Lucifer possessed Sam in "Swan Song" and both of them had a chat with that mirror in between. Now, give me that with Michael and Dean and I'll be the happiest person on the planet.
"What is it that you want?" from Supernatural vs "What is it that you truly desire?" from Lucifer on Fox. I got a bit confused as to which show I was watching. The fact that he kept asking the same thing to everyone didn't help at all, lol.
I'm so glad Bobby is sticking around. I've missed him so damn much. I still think it was a horrible idea to get rid of him the way they did in season 7, so having him now it's a sight for sore eyes. I love that even though he's from another world, he's still pretty much the same. I loved his relationship with Jack. It was lovely how Bobby said his got his back. Bobby has chemistry with everyone. Seriously, Jim Beaver is all sorts of amazing.
If Mary and Bobby end up together it's gonna too weird for me. I've always seen him as the boys' dad, or uncle, and seeing him with Mary is too weird. I liked that little stroll both took during the season finale, though.
I was relieved that Sam mentioned that magic egg they once used to separate Lu ifer from the President. I love that he even referred to it as a magic egg. I thought no one was even gonna mention it and that it might end up being another loose end. And since when is Ketch allowed to go back to London? Now he was starting to grow on me and he leaves the country. Really hoping to see him again soon.
Glad to see Sister Jo, too. I really hope that call to Sam was true and that she's not working with Michael. I get the feeling that she's gonna be one of the good guys by the end of the season, that or that she'll end up dead. She's way more human than angel at this point, the same as Cas.
Speaking of, I love how Cas did absolutely nothing this episode but to get punched in the face after literally saying that he could burn Kip to ash, and then he got beat up. I liked his talk to Jack at the end, though. Cas went through the same feelings Jack's going, including depression. I just wish Jack gets his powers soon because, although he'll still be super adorable, he's gonna have exactly the same arc Cas had in season 10. I thought losing his powers might turn him into an irritable teen, but seeing him willing to fight those demons with his bare hands to protect Bobby, ow, never change Jack. Keep being that sweet little boy.
When he said "Was that Ghandi?" I immediately thought, who the hell would punch Ghandi? Then I remembered the episode Fallen Idols, back I season 5 when Ghandi did put a fight, lol.
That bar fight was weird to watch. Why there were so many damn slo-mo shots and close-ups? I loved that demon going over the motown sign, though.
After 14 seasons I still don't get why supernatural beings resort to punching. I just find it funny when I see it. Use your powers, dammit!
That Kip demon guy was a bit annoying. If you want to be the new Crowley just don't try to imitate him. No one ever will equal Crowley. God, I miss Mark Sheppard! For a second there I thought Kip was going to ask Sam to take over hell and I was about to lose it.
Now let's get on with the weirdness, shall we? I was expecting Lucifer aka Mark Pellegrino to come back but not so soon. I didn't see that one coming. I've said it a million times already, no matter in what form he comes, I love Mark Pellegrino to pieces and I'm absolutely okay with him being back as Lucifer, Nick or himself. I don't care. However, I don't buy for a second that that's Nick. I mean, how the hell is he still alive? I get that archangel blades are only meant to kill Archangels and not the vessel but how did Nick survive being stabbed? Wouldn't he have, I don't know, bled out? Better yet, wasn't he already dead in the first place? I recall Crowley saying something about finding Nick's body laying around. Besides, should he not have a soul? Cas explained that the soul of a vessel only remains in the body if it holds a certain structural integrity. If Crowley reconstructed his body, shouldn't that mean that Nick is no longer in that body? Or that at least he's soulless? Also, what the hell is Nick made of? Back in the day, normal people couldn't hold an angel, let alone an archangel. And why is he not a drooling mess? Remember Raphael in season 5? However, given the fact that Lucifer took Jack's grace, maybe he's pretending to be Nick until he's fully recharged. But I do think that if they keep Mark Pellegrino in is because Lucifer is coming back, which I think wouldn't help given that he's had the same arc ever since he first appeared and that it was pretty much over last season. However, I need a scene between Nick and Jack asap. I spent last season patiently waiting for Jack and Lucifer to meet and I can wait for it to happen again.
Overall, not the best but good episode. I hope they take the stakes up a little bit and to see more of Michael. I loved that they showed the angels true form. But if Cas' true form was supposed to be the size of the Chrysler building, how come Michael's is that? Either way, good episode though a bit slow for my taste. A sudden thought crossed my mind while watching Cas, what's up with those cosmic consequences that Billie talked about? Was that even explained or are we assuming those consequences had to do with Michael and alternate realities?
The Beard Of Depression ™
Also, I'm gonna fight whoever is thinking about putting Mary and Bobby together, is just weird.
Yay! I missed my boys! =)
Season 14 and still going strong! Not a bad start. Loving the return of nick, very interesting, could it be one of lucifer tricks? Also Loved the rocky reference “it’s not about how hard you can hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit” Brillant. Glad to see Jim Beaver back in a recurring role, he has been missed from the show.
One of the weakest openings I’ve seen for a long time. What was with the slow motion action music fighting!?
This episode was pretty lame for a season premiere.
I don't like Dean playing the role of being possessed by Michael. It just doesn't feel right, but not for the reason you may think... I consider Jensen Ackles a talented, but one dimensional actor. Like, when sam was possessed by Gadreel, it was almost believable that Gadreel was actually inside of Sam (No Pun intended). Jared Padalecki is very good at playing two characters at the same time.
I hate Jack even more now that he lost his powers than I did when he first appeared in season 12.
Since they found away to bring Bobby back, this might be a long shot, but bring the King of Hell back! He was hilarious. There was never dull moment when Crowley was around. He became one of my favorite characters outside of Dean & Sam.

The episode felt a bit "off"... It was Supernatural but as if it was a cheaper, low-budget action movie. Something about the direction seemed off, the action-scenes although spectacular in ways felt amateurish and the use of the music to increase the tension got old quickly.
Also: Padalecki, better beware of that jaw-clenching and throat-tension or you might get a cramp or something.
Also: Goddamn I want that Peaky Blinders suit Ackles has!
