Swamp Thing was on my watchlist for a long time and last week I finally binged the 10 episodes. What a shame that this show got cancelled so fast. I agree with Priest24's comment that this show is better than Doom Patrol and Titans. It's a pretty classic Monster Story, but that isn't a bad thing. The story is simple but entertaining and has a lot of moving parts. The cast is very likeable and there are very good performances by Crystal Reed (Abby), Derek Mears (Swamp Thing), Will Patton (Avery) and Kevin Durand (Woodrue). The supporting cast is very decent as well. It's the clear that the last episode of this season wasn't a real finally to the show. It's not really satisfying to watch it end like this, but I still think it's a good watch.
I liked the series, although it left a lot of things open.
The lack of the 3 more episodes that would have in the season made a terrible lack.
I feel like an orphan of the series. I hope that in the near future there will be a revival or a reboot.
The story did get a bit chaotic nearing the end, but considering the ocean of garbage shows still on air, cancelling Swamp Thing was a sad mistake.
Too bad it was cancelled, it was a good first season.
As it was cancelled with on, I didn't expect that I
I'm really surprised this got canceled so soon because it really felt like quality tv for a genre that's often corny and cheesy. The show has a way of pulling you in and the scene and setting combined with the tense mood really gave an edge to most episodes. There wasn't a dull moment and Crystal Reed was fantastic.
Personally, thought it was an interesting show. I was pissed when I discovered they cancelled it. This is becoming a real problem with streaming services. Someone told me it's a good idea to wait until a show has at least 2 seasons before you start watching. I'm really starting to think he's right!!!
Overall nice watch..very reminiscent of twin peaks.. also Crystal Reed gorgeous as always doing a great job
We thought it was pretty well done. The backdrop of what life is like in the swamps was interesting. Only one season but it is worth a watch.
I thought better and I'm quit disappointend. The main actress is not credible, she looks like a doll more than a renowned doctor. Several parts of the story are weak, especially the blue devil storyline doesn't make sense as it is developed. Just the main story about the monster and the actorial work of Kevin Durand let me rank the show with a 6.
I really wasn’t expecting much, I thought it would be a difficult character to pull off and expected it to be a bit cheesy, especially given it had been cancelled.
However, to my surprise, I really enjoyed it. I found it interesting, intriguing, lots of twist, great characters and acting and generally all round a great show.
I’m really confused to why it was cancelled?
DC don’t have the best track record, but I’m actually enjoying their shows; Doom Patrol being my favourite and Titans probably my least favourite. Swamp Thing was definitely somewhere inbetween the two.
I do feel the main female actress, playing Abby wasn’t quite right, I can’t really explain. However, her clumpy mascara in every episode really annoyed me lol :joy:
Her friend the reporter wasn’t brilliant either, but her part was weak rather than the actress.
Overall thought there were plenty of great characters and actors.
We saw a small development of the Blue Devil character, perhaps something that will have its own show. I like the actor and his portrayal and hope to see more.
Sad to say goodbye to Swamp Thing  But, do watch the first season; it ends with enough closure to the storyline, so you’re not left hanging.
Such a shame :frowning2:
A pretty good show, incomprehensibly canceled before even its diffusion...
The show provide a quite interesting intrigue, with some nice jump-scares and creepy moment, as expected in any good horror production.
The acting, without been Oscar worthy is definitely better than many similar TV shows.
I personally find the 1h format is a little bit long sometimes and think the show would have been more better adapted in 45 or 50 minutes.
I was quite a very stupid move to cancel the show after single (quite good) episode, a lot of people then lost any interest in Swamp Thing even before having starting to watch it. The producers/network could have waited the end of the season. Now they will think they were right to cancel the show as it didn't have a huge success, wich induced actually by its early cancellation...
I sincerely hope we will be able to see Alec and Abby again, in an unexpected season 2 or in a spin-off in any another DC Universe show (I feel an episode of Doom Patrol would particularly suit).
What a shame they had to cancel this show. #DCwhatareyouthinking :person_facepalming_tone1::male_sign:
The show was very well done in terms of Swamp Thing's appearance, practical effects, and whatnot. That was essentially the highlight of it. Other than that, it was actually somewhat mediocre. I enjoyed watching it week by week until now, now that the finale has aired and the show is over, but I honestly enjoyed Doom Patrol a whole lot more. Hell, I'd go as far as to say that I even enjoyed Titans more. Just a little bit. Of course, the latter was more mediocre than I originally thought when watching it the more I look back on it. Anyway, this is a show that was very well done in certain aspects, no doubt, just not that much beyond average overall.
DC Universe pulled the plug on "Swamp Thing" after airing just one episode. Reportedly, the production — which already saw its episode count reduced by three — encountered a smaller-than-expected tax credit from the state of North Carolina, impacting its budget.
You know, I thought I'd give this a shot given it's "horror" roots and provided that it is already canceled (and possibly cannot go too superheroish) but I cannot get into a story when I have to scratch my head every few minutes; this plays out too illogical. Be it terrible scene flow or the fact that no one reacts or handles this setting in a believable way. Dropped.
In all honesty, after the first two episodes I started to curb my enthusiasm. I start to understand why it was cancelled. The story is all over the place.
Of all the DC shows they cancelled the one with the most promise? IMO it is better than Doom Patrol and Titans and stomps a mud hole in that CW trash. Guess they weren't ready for "the Green."
The intro song makes me think of Batman EVERY SINGLE EPISODE lol
I found the main actress very weak, like she didn't belong in there, the immersion wasn't present. And the clichés about white people doing stupid things in thriller/horrors movies are true in the show, it's disappointing
I was completely bored the first Episode. give another Episode a try but... its so fucking dark.
I thought it was a great first episode as well. To bad they cancelled it.

Darn! It has already been cancelled. Shame on DC!!!

Hopefully it's better than the movie
Can't wait for this,looks good.

From executive producers Len Wiseman and James Wan comes the DC superhero series Swamp Thing. While investigating a strange viral outbreak in a small-town in Louisiana, bio-researcher Alec Holland is murdered and left for dead in the swamp, but comes back as a plant creature and helps CDC doctor Abigail Arcane to continue to investigate the virus. Starring Crystal Reed, Andy Bean, Virginia Madsen, Will Patton, and Jennifer Beals, the show has a solid cast. However, the writing is rather weak, particularly in how the overall story-arc is structured. Still, the special effects and creature design are quiet impressive, and show does good job at setting a dark and foreboding tone. And there are several exciting fight sequences. Yet while Swamp Thing delivered a solid first season, behind-the-scenes turmoil led to a swift cancellation.
