Fort William is once again resounding to the sound of cheering crowds and crunching gears as the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup returns to Scotland. Launching off from the top of the Nevis range, the best riders in the world plummet 555 metres down one of the longest and toughest courses on the circuit.

And there is no shortage of action with highlights from the fast, gladiatorial 4X Pro Tour to the thousands of fans who make Fort William a weekend not to be missed.

At midsummer, The Adventure Show heads to Torridon in the north west of Scotland for one of the world’s most extreme events: the Celtman.

And extreme Is the word – starting at 5am with a three-kilometre open-water swim, competitors then leap onto their bikes to pedal the next 200 kilometres. The finale is a 42-kilometre run, with an ascent of one of Scotland’s Munros thrown in for good measure. It has been described as one of the toughest days of your life and for most just finishing is a major achievement.
