Pathetic propaganda ignoring the sadistic, backwards, immoral prejudices of the desert nomads that wrote the books compiled into the Bible. Let's not forget that this, supposedly holy text written by an all-loving creator, endorses slavery, wife beating, child murder, rape, pedophilia, human sacrifice, genocide, bigotry, racism, sexism. So, let's all focus on the not-so-horrid stories and make a touchy television show about those. Except... The last story glorifies torture and human sacrifice while subtlety slipping in the idea that children can be punished for the mistakes of their parents and strangers can be assigned someone else's punishment while taking zombies and magic for granted.

Since it was produced by History Channel the show had some realistic approach combining stories with historic events and wars that happened at the same time. Warrior angels was a cool image but to be honest the Old Testament was rushed through and a lot of personal motivations, emotions and important stories were removed making it hard to connect with any character. Even the prolonged look at the life and miracles of Jesus has a lot of things lost (especially about John the Baptist - where is the story about Salome?). It starts epic enough to begin with, but when a series need an narrator every minute to explain stuff on the screen than it becomes tiresome and this felt like a "best of" adaptation instead of something definitive. Maybe they should have thought about giving this miniseries a longer run of two seasons (one focusing on the old testament the other on the new?). Non-existing acting that consist of people posing also doesn't help. Unnecessary detailed in violent imagery while erotic imagery depicted in The Bible is left completely out.
