Nine pairs of the country's best allotmenteers take part in The Big Allotment Challenge, a brand new series hosted by Fern Britton. Over six weeks they are put to the test, as they attempt to harvest prize-winning fruits, vegetables and flowers for show day. Plus, their preserving skills will be tested to the limit as they are challenged to produce jams, chutneys, cordials, pickles and jellies.

This first show sees the nine pairs of talented gardeners challenged to grow and present three matching radishes, seven perfect spikes of sweet peas and face a timed surprise floral arrangement challenge. Finally, for a place in the next round, they have to make a fruit jam and fruit curd using ingredients from their allotment. Which pair will impress the experts and be awarded Best In Show and which pair will be the first to leave The Big Allotment Challenge?

This time, their runner beans and roses are scrutinized on the show bench by former royal gardener Jim Buttress, floral expert Jonathan Moseley sets them the tricky challenge to make a summer wreath and queen of preserves Thane Prince is on the hunt for a perfect relish.

It's the semi-final of The Big Allotment Challenge hosted by Fern Britton. The search continues to find Britain's Best Growers. Five teams are left to battle it out for a place in the final. In this episode their onions and chrysanthemums are laid bare on the show bench for Jim to judge. In their biggest task yet, Jonathan challenges the allotmenteers to create a pedestal that includes chrysanthemums and other flowers from their patch, whilst preserves expert Thane Prince sets them the tough challenge of making well set jellies and smooth fruit butters. Who will leave the allotment for good and who will score on the show bench and make it through to the final with a chance to be named the winners of The Big Allotment Challenge?

The Big Allotment Challenge grand final and the last chance for the remaining three pairs to impress the judges in a series of challenges devised to test their growing, arranging and preserving skills.

Fern Britton presents the return of the contest, which this time pits nine gardeners against one another as they attempt to impress Royal Horticultural Society judge Jim Buttress, floral designer Jonathan Moseley and food writer Thane Prince. In the first episode, the contenders must grow and present five matching new potatoes and three perfect stems of zinnia, create floral baskets and finally make two sauces for a Sunday roast, before the three experts decide who will be first to leave the allotment.

The eight remaining contestants must present Jim Buttress with two perfectly uniform cucumbers, while Jonathan Moseley sets them the tricky task of growing larkspur and incorporating it into a bound bouquet. For their final challenge they make ice lollies and syrups for Thane Prince, before the three judges decide which of the allotmenteers is leaving the competition. Fern Britton presents.

Fern Britton presents the third round of the competition, with seven contestants remaining in the race to be crowned Britain's best amateur gardener. They must present Jim Buttress with five perfect pods of peas, while Jonathan Moseley sets them the tricky task of growing lilies and incorporating them in a floral candelabra. For their final challenge they have to use their produce to make dips and crisps for Thane Prince, before the three judges decide who will leave the competition.

Fern Britton presents the fourth round of the competition, with six contestants remaining in the race to be crowned Britain's best amateur gardener. They must present Jim Buttress with perfectly uniform tomatoes, while Jonathan Moseley sets them the task of growing rudbeckia and incorporating them in a stacked flowerpot arrangement. For their final challenge they have to use their produce to make sweet and savoury jams for Thane Prince, before the three judges decide who will leave the competition.

Fern Britton presents as the five remaining contestants battle it out for the three places in the final, beginning by presenting okra for the scrutiny of Jim Buttress. Jonathan Moseley asks them to use helichrysum to create eye-catching table swags and Thane Prince sets a challenge of making pickles and chutneys, before the judges decide which two of the gardeners will be leaving the competition.

Fern Britton presents the grand final as the three remaining contenders battle it out to be crowned the winner of the competition. Jim Buttress has set a double challenge by asking them to present cauliflowers and Cape gooseberries on the show bench, while Jonathan Moseley asks them to grow perpetual carnations and use them along with other flowers they have cultivated to decorate a floral arch. For the last task, Thane Prince requests canapes, cocktails and confectionery, before the judges decide who has come out on top. Last in the series.
