As a child of the 1990s, I must be missing something in regards to why Martha still being connected was an obstacle. Mike even plays with the receiver in a way that looks like it should disconnect the call, but it doesn't. I guess this is all just too old-school for me, raised on Cortelco landlines and now all too used to modern cell phones & VoIP.
