Nine-year-old Magnus has travelled from Orkney to receive a drug infusion for his Crohn’s disease, but the treatment hangs in the balance as nurses suspect Magnus may have a nasty infection. Most modern operations wouldn’t be possible without anaesthesia, and consultant paediatric anaesthetist Kay shows the extraordinary procedures required to keep patients relaxed and pain-free before, during and after surgery. Ten-year-old Abigail needs four molars removed, but she is terrified of the dentist. Will she be able to overcome her fear and have her teeth removed?
