The rescue of the shipwrecked man, the return to his family and Philip’s speech afterward were my favorite part of this episode.

Gotta like Philip after he turned his yacht around to return an injured fisherman to his island.

great now i can check off white saviourism from the crown's trope bingo. i am excited to see how mike's letters will bite him in the ass for his divorce though. cold comfort for his blatant racism and misogyny but its something

I remember a comment from last season that Elizabeth was the least interesting character. And I have to disagree as for me that was always Philip. I felt every time he was on screen he was just using up space. That changed somewhat with this episode. While in the first half of the episode I still found him rather uninteresting, from the moment he decided to turn the ship around he got another layer. He wasn't thinking about himself. Question is, for how long. The beginning of episode one already showed us there are still problems.

I love it when a beautiful soundtrack elevates an already beautifully written material. The last couple of scenes were heart whelming. Guess it's true when they say absence makes the heart grow fonder. There's the Philip we liked from the start of the series. I hope things don't change once the homesickness goes away though.
