Good episode with enough tense and action while keeping the political thriller and characters' drama mixed in-between. Cara Gee's character (Fred's right-hand, Drummer) has grown on me - I like how she shot the guys with obvious anger in her face. The portrayal of the Belters here is cold and disturbing, especially with the spacing out the inners scene. I hope they can give more nuance to the Belters and OPA rebellion in next episodes though.
While the show has shown the hardship Belters have to endure at times (the episode on Diogo and his uncle was good), emphasis on extremists like Black Sky and the refugee ship may make one becomes less sympathetic. It would be nice to see how The Expanse would handle the contrast between everyday Belters, aspiring "fighters for a cause" like Diogo, and their leaders struggling with their own power politics like Dawes.
After Aros and the Julie Mao enemy has been defeated, the crew of the Rocinante are no longer a single unit, but separate units of the system, with their own planet/home. With everything going with the OPA and Johnson, Naomi being in the middle of the turf war between Johnson and Dawes plus the other OPA factions, I'm not sure who she will side with. And will she sacrifice the crew for the cause?
The hate of the inners (Martian and Earther) is jarring. Seeing the Martian's get spaced by the belter crew of the freighter, watching his friend get killed (the look on her face when she realizes what's going on and her death is now) for no other reason than hate of a group, it's a punch in the gut. Emphasized by the camera tracking their dead bodies as they lose heat (and life) in the emptyness of space.
Dawes is not a leader or a rebel fighter, looking to save his people; he's a power hungry warlord who likes to be adored. While Johnson is looking to broker peace, Dawes is looking for everlasting war to feed his power (he doesn't care about the lives lost, as we see with Julie and his abandonment of her, all he cares is how he can spin in to favor him and his "cause". And unfortunately Dawes has the upper hand, belter born and raised, against Johnson, assassin of an entire station.
Dang, this storyline is intricate. With the new character and info from Ganymede, what's next?
Also, I love the Tycho security chick :D
This show is so good at creating very nice computer displays, but they let a rare typo slip through: "EMLOYMENT", when Naomi is searching Ganymede's records.
Where did Dr. Meng get a photo of Mei? He just got that comm device when he boarded Tycho Station, so there's no way he brought it with him. Or have I missed evidence of implantable memory storage/retrieval tech before this episode?
I like how the zoom controls on Naomi's portable control/comm device are the reverse of what we use now. Pinching outward zooms out instead of in, moving the displayed content opposite her finger motion. It's not entirely believable—that's a very counter-intuitive control scheme.
Mi pensa beltalowda "language" is shit! Why do some TV Shows feel the need to introduce this stacko (Defiance reference to crap). It is soooo ridiculous it makes me vomit. Otherwise a good episode. I felt like they dragged the story, nothing particular of interest, episode easily can be skipped but... As a whole best show on the market. Does anyone feel like maybe Cortazar did something to Amos... Or maybe Amos did something to himself (hinting at a small lobotomy)... Though Amos is like "I don't give a crap" on his own... Well... We'll see
Damnit, i've warmed to these characters, and the story has been mostly good this season.
Oof, casually ejecting the Martians into space through the airlock was pretty brutal... Since they pretended to transfer them to a different ship it reminded me a bit of the horrible gas chambers in concentration camps (I've visited one once and that shit is truly evil :o).
Dr. Praxidike Meng must've had it the worst. He got physically hurt, was told his child is dead, watched the person he loved die, and is finally told that his child may still be alive (what an emotional rollercoaster).
Amos is also concerning. Did he really suppress his empathy?!? He wouldn't do it, right? :o
Drummer was really pissed but rightfully so!
Give an easy trigger a weapon and you'll want to use it

It would be nice to have less soap opera, fanatics, terrorists etc... and more protomolecule and science.
