I actually really enjoyed this episode, despite the high Blum-presence. I also thought the cartoon worked much better as an end-credits thing rather than in a brutally jarring mid-episode position. That said, I hope they are exclusively a season 3 phenomenon, much like Blum.
I'm happy we got back Maia. :) It was not the same series without her.
This was probably the only episode where I genuinely liked Maia. The way she made Blum tone himself down (seriously, who can actually pull off something like that?!) and how she handled things as they started a new firm together was impressive, all done with an attitude that is unusual for her character. But I'm sure that by the next episode it'll be back to her annoying the heck out of me, as usual.
I've always liked Marissa, she does not have a very prominent role in the show, but her presence is always fun and to the point, akin to her dad's in The Good Wife. It saddened me to see her feeling betrayed like that. I hope those two can sort things out. But, if that's not happening, you know who I'm rooting for.
I am soooo tired of having to watch Diane's screen time being wasted on that puerile anti-Trump conspiracy. It was fun for the first couple of episodes, but now it has become more repetitive, stale and unbearable than Blum's flamboyance. I really wish the show runners would give Diane a better storyline, she sure deserves one. Maybe next season...
Most likely because of Maia (and the disbarment threat), Blum didn't go full Blum in this episode (something I'm sure a lot of you are thankful for). By the end of the episode I was worried that Blum was about to fade away, instead of burning out (the latter suits his style so much better). But those scenes from the next episode sure opened my apetite for the season finale. It seems they're gearing up for a fiery one!
The weakest episode of the season so far. Too much Blum, way too much Maya, not enough Diane. The whole Maya/Blum thing was just too convenient and frankly completely unbelievable. Please, writers, just let Maya's character go! She was never particularly interesting and far less so now. Same for Blum. His character's Trump/Roy Cohn parallels were always on the nose at best, but have now well and truly overstayed their welcome.
I did not like this season much. All the realism about Trump, elections and so made me feel unattached to it. The personal plots were not good. I might not watch next season.
The end of the justifies the means, tell it as an excuse to convince yourself badly and if you do not need to convince yourself worse. Blumm Bored me, okay? for Maia
I’m glad Maia is back and I’m really interested in where this is going. I think (and hope) that Blum only appears in season 3, but wouldn’t that mean that we also lose Maia in season 4? I hope not, I want her and Marissa to become friends again. Speaking of friends... holy shit, that kiss! I never thought about Maia and Marissa that way, but I have to admit it was really cute.

All I can say is, Marissa Gold deserves better.
