This first episode didn't do much for me, but I have the feeling it'll work out in the end! Loved the first season.
An interesting vibe for this season. Mostly setup for the first ep (as you would expect) but still plenty of creepy.
I saw lots of background figures (Flora's dolls?) especially the one in the plague mask quite a lot.
The kids accents/general manner is a bit annoying and over the top. Hopefully that settles down.
I was looking at the back shots the whole time because a ghost was appearing all the time. Wow
seriously what's wrong with those kids?
Slow but decent start, not sure the addition of a narrator is an improvement though.
Kids are creepy as all horror movie kids are.
Dolls, and dollhouses, classic.
Her ghost looks exactly like Elijah Wood in Sin City.
The setup is ok, let's see what happens. So obviously setting up a Dani+Jamie thing.
If I hear "perfectly splendid" one more time, I will kill a man. Almost everyone's accents and manners of speaking are so strange?? Plus the kids aren't so much as creepy as plain strange and annoying.
Bit weird that there is suddenly an invasion of crickets in rural England. I'm guessing American audiences wouldn't believe it was dark otherwise.
I was looking at the back shots the whole time because a ghost was appearing all the time. Wow
I already hate those little bastards, what's to come?
Also that old lady starting to tell an 9 hour long ghost story on a night before the wedding is such a flex.
Might be time for her to find a new job. Great visuals and subtle creepiness always seems to freak me out more.
Very shallow attempts at scares. Also, I know you can't be too critical of child actors but if a kid is going to play a big part, the casting department has to do better.
An interesting start to the series, good character introduction and storyline set up. Vibes were spooky and eerie, great cinematography.
6/10
Fair
So the second season
to
The Haunting at
Hill House Anthology series
Well let's see what this
set of stories have to offer
can't imagine it will top
or come close to the first
story but will give this
a 4 episode chance to
make me care and commit,
but between the weird
Cringy kids and nothing
that's really grabbed my
Attention thua far things aren't
looking good.
(I really hope it proves
me wrong).
slog definition: 1. to work hard over a long period, especially doing work that is difficult or boring
and the show goes downhill from here.
I really enjoyed this. Great horror in a sense it's not jump scares or blood/gore. Good writing and over all good acting (apart from the little girl, I found her acting a bit unbelievable in the start but it improved)
I found this really sad. I cried at a few moments more than most shows ever do.
This is the type of horror i enjoy. No blood, no monsters .. just a good story and "props" to set up your imagination.
One takeaway: Dani sees her own ghosts. She was not phased by what she saw in the mirror
I saw this first episode of Bly Manor last night before bed, overall good, there seemed to be a lot more of those hidden ghosts in the background than there were in three episodes of season one's haha :busts_in_silhouette: so they probably did that on purpose.. premise is okay so far, and I see where it's headed, acting is on point - dreamy look to it :thought_balloon: Victoria Pedretti looks a lot prettier this time around
Henry Thomas' accent was so bad, it sounded like a parody...
I must say that I was quite thrown off in the beginning seeing Victoria Pedretti (Dani) again and the pictures on the walls with her amongst new characters. Now I realize that she's portraying a new character.
Great way to start. The stakes are very high (I am imagining ghosts everywhere)
Is this called the haunting of bly Manor, that's what I'm downloading so here's hoping?
Can't wait for this, the first season was one of the best shows on last year.
