Homeowners, Bonnie and Winston would love to entertain in their backyard, but with no fence or hedge, they don't have the kind privacy they need to enjoy it. While visiting the couple, Jamie decides that the Hamptons would be the perfect place to go for design inspiration. After finding amazing design ideas from his journey, Jamie creates a tranquil escape complete with fountain, spa deck and lush greenery.
Homeowners Paul and Paul have lived in their 100-year-old, historic home for nine years. They love to garden and have a large backyard but it still remains mostly unused. The problem is that they don't know how to make it one cohesive space in relation to the house. They lack the design to make it all work. Jamie comes to have a look at the property in person and meet Paul and Paul. After meeting them and seeing the property Jamie decides that Boston, MA would be the perfect place to visit for inspiration. He returns from his trip with a Boston inspired design to show that includes meandering pathways, a dining area built around a tree and arbor screening the garden. When it is revealed to Paul and Paul, they finally have a yard that connects yard to their home and gives them a place to garden and entertain in.
Rene bought his home a year ago. As a single parent he lives there with his four-year-old son and his parents. Rene has put all his time and money into the house itself and has nothing left for the back yard. He wants a yard that matches his healthy lifestyle, where he can play with his son and one that honors his Mexican heritage. Jamie arrives to meet Rene and see the yard himself. After talking with Rene, Jamie tells him that Sedona, AZ is where he is traveling for the inspiration trip.
Jennifer and Scott are a very busy, young couple that have spent the past six years restoring their California bungalow home. The problem is that their home ends at their backdoor. Jen is talented cook and a vegetarian. They are eco friendly and want a sustainable, modern yard where they can eat what they grow. Jamie meets with them and tells them that he knows of a fantastic edible garden in Atlanta, GA. Jamie heads to Atlanta in search of inspiration for his design. He returns from his trip with an Atlanta inspired design full of edible plants and a gorgeous dining pergola surrounded by vertical gardens. After the project is complete, Jen and Scott finally have a garden that they can eat and a design that matches their style.

Jamie meets with Missy and Daren and decides that Utah would be the perfect place for him to visit for design inspiration. After visiting the ultra-modern, Amangiri Resort, Jamie creates a backyard oasis that both compliments Missy and Daren's style and frames the wonderful view.
Homeowners Shai and Nicole are busy owners of hair salon and have neglected their large yard since they bought their home. They both love Japanese inspired design. After Jamie visits with the homeowners, he decides that he will go to New York City for a Zen inspired outdoor room. While on his trip, Jamie finds inspiration for his design and builds Shai and Nicole a Zen pavilion surrounded by lush gardens and bonsai displays. The result is spectacular.
Tim and David live in a historic home designed by famous architects, Greene and Greene. The problem is that their backyard is in shambles and doesn't do the architecture of the home justice. After meeting with Tim and David, Jamie decides that he is going to stay in Pasadena to look at other Greene and Greene homes for his design inspiration. Upon returning from his tour, Jamie builds a charming outdoor room that both honors the home's architects and gives Tim and David a place to entertain.
Kevin and Leslie are new homeowners that have put everything they had into buying their home. Their backyard has been neglected and they want a place to entertain and extend their living space. After visiting Kevin and Leslie, Jamie decides that he will go to Austin, TX, Kevin's home state for design inspiration. While visiting Austin, he discovers Texas limestone, steel planters, curved arbors and beautiful wildflowers. Jamie brings it all back and gives Kevin and Leslie a one-of-a-kind Outdoor Room replete with the all charm of Austin, Texas.
Homeowners Derrick and Tina have a large family and large yard. Since the yard is an eyesore, the family never uses it. After visiting Derrick and Tina, Jamie decides that The Bahamas would be just the place to go to find design inspiration for their Outdoor Room. Jamie returns from his trip and builds them a one-of-a-kind, Island Living retreat that includes a washed wood deck, outdoor kitchen and a romantic spa.
East Coast transplants, Mark and Elizabeth built their New England-style home a year ago leaving a small, unfinished yard. With a baby on the way, they need help to complete their home. Jamie visits them and decides that Nantucket, MA would be the perfect place to go for design inspiration. Jamie returns from his trip and creates a custom Outdoor Room complete with a weathered-wood dining area, family lounge area and all the charm of coastal New England.
Homeowners Melissa and Jim have a pool they love but the yard surrounding it is barren and ugly. Jamie meets with them and decides that he will head to Los Angeles for modern design inspiration. Jamie visits the Walt Disney Concert Hall, chic hotels and downtown L.A.. He returns to create modern oasis complete with a sunken lounge, contemporary planters and poolside dining.
