After watching season 1 of 2 I wrote the following: "Very pleasantly surprised. Being french I'm used to our shows being usually kinda meh but this is just great. Very captivating story that keeps you wanting to know more, great acting, the filming and the atmosphere are on point, and the soundtrack by Mogwai is just brilliant. Looking forward to season 2 (that was released like 3y later), to see how things unravel, but so far it's around 8.5/10 "
Unfortunately, season 2 was not as good for me. While the production is still great, I felt like the plot was slow and very blurry, which slowly made me lose interest and emotional investment. If S1 is a 8.5, S2 is a 6. Ending was satisfying though, so I'd give the show as a whole a 7.5/10. Definitely worth a watch if you like the genre.

Amazing! Smooth creepy, good characters, and the soundtrack by Mogwai just makes it more beautiful - so harmonic! One of my favorite series ever!
I haven't watched the American remake, but the French original is excellent. Spooky but also touching, about dead people suddenly reappearing in a small village.
Very well done! A bit of a mind trip too, lol. Overall, I really enjoyed it and it kept my interest as to why and how people returned. Great series, def recommend if you're into suspense/mystery/horror type stuff.
The show is perfect. The BGM is wanderfoul.
A horror show that does not rely on cheap scares. But it does not show up on Traktr calendar since its Network is not set to a US TV network for me.

I'm a French major and I found it when I was a freshman... Absolutely amazing! A must watch! You can't miss Céline ( as Julie)! And there's Mogwai! It's just bloody great!
Holy shit this is good. The acting, pacing, and atmosphere are really unique. And boy don't get me started with the awesomeness of the soundtrack. Keeping me hooked up throughout the whole season. Please come back soon!
Similar plot to "Resurrection" but way better.
Wow I can't express how good this series is. Every single episode leaves you intrigued and also terrified in a way. So glad I came across this show. It had me amazed as soon as I saw the opening credits, heh. Hopefully it continues the way its going.
The best tv show of genre of actuality.
So I'm french, and I'm a canal+ subscriber (the network behind this tv show) but I completely missed this serie when it was on air...
And then two days ago I see a amazing score for "the returned" on both metacritic and rotten tomatoes ans I was "I know that poster, and I know that synopsis"
And then it strikes me! It's "les revenants" Yeah, I've seen dozens of ads in the subway last year...
So in the end I've started watching it and I'm really happy I didn't miss it completely.
It's dark, it's almost suffocating. But it's amazing. It gives me a bit of hope for the future of french tv.
A must see!
