Al "Turbo Yoda" of Mighty Car Mods fame and Woody build fast cars that do sweet skids.

30 episodes

Woody recently upgraded his daily driver for this 2010 NT Mitsubishi Pajero. Originally it only needed a few things to get it on the road and all was going well until Woody went for a 4x4 with some mates and used the broken intercooler as a drinking straw..

Woody decided to cheap out and save himself $1500 by purchasing a Fire Damaged engine, Little did he realise that it required almost more work than it was worth!

Would you purchase an engine like this to save yourself some money?

Today on the Skid factory, Woody & Al fix one of the most common failures on the Mitsubishi Pajero. The location of the factory Intercooler makes it susceptible to damage when off-roading causing it to leak and worst case turning it into a drinking straw damaging the otherwise bullet-proof 4M41 Engine.

Upgrading the intercooler size and mounting it higher is a common upgrade providing cooler intake temperatures and keeps it out of harms way.

It's then off to see Matt at Just Autos for a Dyno Tune to extract more power and torque.

Today on The Skid Factory Woody's Pajero receives some Camping Upgrades in the form of a Drifta Stockton Roof Top Tent, a bunch of goodies from Ridge Ryder and XTM including a 270deg awning, storage drawers and a dual battery system that's then wired up and controlled by a Red Arc BCDC charger.

There's a bit of work involved and you might have to get creative with mounting but a well setup 4WD makes camping in style a Breeze.

If you had the budget, What Engine would you swap into your 4x4?

Today on The Skid Factory, Al talks candidly about the Pros and Cons of a Cummins swap into a Nissan Patrol. There's a lot of variables to consider and it is a costly conversion.

Today on The Skid Factory Al Addresses a couple of things on the Patrol that he wasn't happy with after finishing the conversion, One of them was a change of Turbocharger but Captain Snap Ring didn't want to co operate which ended in disaster.

Thanks to Matt from Double Duty Diesel for being very helpful throughout the build and helping out with the Turbo

Today on The Skid Factory Woody & Al prep the Pajero for some Off-Road 4x4 action by fitting a Winch, Dobinsons 2 inch Lift Kit and some Boos Bash Plates!

It might be a soccer mums Mall Crawler but at least Woody now looks the part when he's doing the shopping.

Today on The Skid Factory, We head out to Landcruiser Mountain Park with some good mates for a bit of fun in the dirt.

Huge thanks to Sam, Jackson, Dylan, Khye, Tim and Phil for coming out.

We're new to this 4X4 stuff and had a bunch of fun learning the ropes.
Theres a few poop in pants moments and epic concentration faces throughout the episode.

Today on The Skid Factory Al & Woody finish off Milli's Bedford van & Wire in the Haltech NEXUS R5 VCU before hitting the start button and firing the De-stroked 3.8L Barra into life!

"The Final Drive"
Today on The Skid Factory, Al takes a 1971 Nissan Skyline, aka, "HakoSuka" for a spirited drive through the Hinterland saying farewell to the original L20A engine.

It's then back to the workshop to talk about the car and some plans that we have for it!

Thanks to Gavin for his patience with us while we planned this build!

If you're after a hint for what engine we're using, have a watch of out NZ series, Theres a few clues there!

Today on The Skid Factory, Al & Woody visit Hartley Engines & Motorsport Over in New Zealand and talk to Nelson Hartley about the Nissan VK56DE Engine. We think it is a perfect match for Gavin's 1971 Nissan Skyline "Hakosuka".

Today on The Skid Factory Woody & Al unbox the power plant for the Hakosuka.
Nelson from Hartley Engines & Motorsport has built this "Street Combo" Nissan VK56DE which hopefully fits in the engine bay of this 1971 Nissan Skyline.

Whats not to love about a 5.6L alloy V8 making 570HP

Today on The Skid Factory we head to Queensland Raceway and jump on some of our mates

Mounting a Quad cam V8 into a car that was designed for a straight 6 isn't always easy, In this Hakosuka's case we have had to modify quite as few things including a complete different crossmember and steering setup and a few minor cuts of the transmission tunnel to fit the TR6060 transmission.

Would you cut into this Japanese Icon?

Today on The Skid Factory we finalise the position of the Hartley VK56 in the engine bay and fabricate some engine mounts.
Our mate panel beater Mark then pops around to assist us in fitting some flares to Gav's Hakosuka.

With solid rotor single piston callipers on the front and drum brakes on the rear assisted by a tiny brake booster, The Hakosuka was never going to stop in a hurry.
Add 500hp to the rear wheels and the need for good braking is even more important.

The front struts were swapped out with a combination of Mazda RX7 & Toyota Ke70 coilovers and the front brakes converted to 287mm AU Falcon Rotors and Twin piston Callipers using a Hopper Stoppers Kit.

The rear brakes consists of Mazda 3 Rotors and Callipers using some custom adapter brackets and an adjustable Spring and Shock combo from Japan.

Today on The Skid Factory Woody heads down to All Asian Day at Lakeside Raceway in the Poor Man's Ferrari for a bit of fun around the track and to also advertise it for sale.

Nissan Vs Toyota V8's! Which engine are you picking?

Today on The Skid Factory, We have a chat with Nelson from Hartley Engineering & Motorsport about some key differences with Nissan & Toyota V8 Engines.

Both Nelson and Alan have been working with these engines for many years so it's a great discussion to have. Have your say, In your opinion , which is Better?

VK56 & Tr6060 converted 1971 Nissan Skyline Hakosuka. Could this be the perfect JDM Restomod combination?

Today on The Skid Factory there's a bunch of progress made on the Hulkosuka including sorting out the suspension, Gear shifter location and crossmember modifications. With everything now removed we're ready to send it all off for powder coating.

Today on The Skid Factory the Hako gets pieced back together with some freshly painted and Powder coated parts!

Today on The Skid Factory Woody & Al get the clutch issues sorted by using a Twin Plate Clutch with a higher stack height, and spacing out the concentric slave cylinder by 15mm,.
Some new Hard brake lines are then bent up and secured to the body.

Converting a 1971 Carby fuel tank to EFI with a Drop in Fuel Pump Assembly.

Today on The Skid Factory AL modifies the standard Nissan Skyline fuel tank to accommodate an In-Tank EFI setup consisting of a VT Commodore MRA Fuel Pump Assembly with a Weld In mount via Raceworks.
Al then fabricates some 4 -1 Extractors out of 1&3/4" mild steel.

Who doesn't love the sound of Independent Throttle bodies? Especially when they're paired with an angry V8...
