6.5/10. A kind of inauspicious but decent enough start for the program. The idea of transposing the cheesy optimism of an old Hanna Barbera cartoon with the sometimes unpleasant realism of the modern day is a good premise for comedy, but I didn't laugh especially often. The characters are all sketched out well enough, from the Venture Boys' naivete, to Brock's cartoonish manliness, to Dr. Venture's oblivious, semi-jealous mad scientist schtick. The animation was interesting; it kind of had the fluidity that's missing from so much animation today, but was also very choppy and kind of amateurish at times.

The idea of the bad guy ninja being a technophile (to the extreme) and the Monarch confusing his namesake with spiders were decent enough gags, as was Dr. Venture's not understanding that his invention was a weapon. Otherwise this was an okay introduction.
