Shape shifting aliens again... But not the bounty hunter... I don't care...
As if we needed more alien plot elements into the mix... Wait did Chris Carter write this? No, he didn't. It's not just Chris stinking up the alien mythos. But to be fair, Chris this season has changed, and the alien mythos part this season has been done well enough so far. As for this episode, at least there wasn't a lot to further convolute the mythos.
I enjoyed Mulder kicking the crap out of the doctor.
Gillian Anderson's acting once again on point. But DAMN they do the writers love exploring her vulnerability and suffering. Like jeez, enough is enough already.
I like that Scully's motivation is now to go after the human/alien experimenters and the secret orgs behind all this. It has been part of her motivation presumbly before, because of her abduction and other things, but it wasn't really highlighted until the ending of this episode. So i like that that motivation has been strengthened. It gives Scully more personal motivation, investment, and our investmnet into her and what she does. Like with Mulder and alien stuff, but he's also been involved in the conspiracy stuff too and cancer man.
This builds more of the mythology into the story of Scully finding her daughter. It's got a sad ending. Scully certainly is a victim of the writers. I really enjoy her so much more in lighter or episodes that aren't so personal to her.
Secondary characters in this episode: Emily, Bill, Scully's Mom, Melissa
Kind of sad episode for Scully. And again she's left with nothing :(
How motherly of her, but in the end, it wasn't meant to be..

Beautiful imagery at the start and a happy/sad ending that adds to the alien story arch.
