Taika's name on it had me somewhat awaiting this in anticipation. And while it has some of the quirky elements you come to expect and enjoy from projects he's involved with, overall, this is not even remotely as enjoyable as I wanted it to. The main culprit IMHO being the cast. I HATE bad kid actors, like... you had the time to do casting among hundreds of applicants. And you chose the child that doesn't even manage to produce a convincing scream and appears to just have recited its learned lines? FFS, Chloe Moretz was about the same age when she floored her co-cast as Hit Girl. Even the kid in Looper was more convinving. The actual pity is that the even the adult cast is equally abysmal. Kudrow, really? She couldn't act when she was in Friends, she still can't now. Her bandit fellows? Cringe as hell but at least ethnically diverse, yay. At least Clement is a sight for sore eyes (man, WWDITS was/is a good movie/show). But really, the whole cast is only exacerbated by the poor, in terms of dad joke, dialogue. Maybe they should have taken some inspiration from the Kung Fury scriptwright or something. Really don't know whether I want to suffer through the rest of the episodes. I guess I will, though, just to be able to complain how it still sucks a few episodes in...
