Jack Ryan is a series of action thriller films based on the fictional character of Jack Ryan, best seller books written by Tom Clancy.
In the series of five films, four actors have portrayed Ryan. These are independent movies, therefore do not need to be watched in order.
All these movies lead to Amazon's successful running TV Series.

If you wish to watch the movies in order of release they are:
1. Hunt for Red October (1980) A CIA Analyst (Alec Baldwin)
2. Patriot Games (1992) begins with former CIA analyst, Jack Ryan (Harrison Ford), now a professor at the U.S. Naval Academy,
3. Clear & Present Danger (1994)
has Jack Ryan (Harrison For) appointed as acting CIA Deputy Director of Intelligence,
4. Sum of all Fears (2002) departs from the chronology of the previous three films and is set in 2002. Jack Ryan (Ben Affleck) portrays a young analyst who supples insight and advice for the CIA.
5. Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (2014)
set in a fictional universe apart from the previous four films and the year is 2013. After the events of the September 11 attacks, Jack Ryan (Chris Pine), becomes a Marine second lieutenant in Afghanistan,  Twelve years later, Ryan is a covert CIA analyst and is working on Wall Street with a cover job as a compliance officer at a stock brokerage.
6. Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan (John Krasinski) (2018) an Amazon original thriller that centers on Ryan as an up-and-coming CIA analyst who is thrust into a dangerous field assignment.
