Parallelism between Season 1 Episode 1 and Season 8 Episode 1
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
S08E01 Jon: "Where's Arya?" Sansa: "Lurking somewhere."Foreshadowing (from different Seasons/Episodes.)
01.
S03E05“ “Let’s not go back. Let’s stay here a while longer,” Ygritte tells Jon. “I don’t ever want to leave this cave, Jon Snow.” S08E01 “We could stay a thousand years. No one would find us,” Daenerys says to Jon.02.
Sam is suggesting rebelling against the Targaryen because they burned his father and brother alive. Similar to when Robert's Rebellion, began when Rhaegar Targaryen, allegedly abducted Robert's betrothed, Lyanna Stark.
When Jonathan Rhys Meyers entered the episode I was like; "What's Henry the 8th doing here?"
A few seconds later: "Aha, still shagging girls."
Great episode!
I would just ask that you take care of me. Because, uh, if dad didn't need me right now, I don't exactly know what I would be for.
The desperation in his delivery was so heartbreaking. First scene of the entire series that made me well up with tears.
Great take on a classic character, unexpectedly good and with the best song soundtrack in a while
Outstanding episode that shows how Michael, deep down, believes in what he does and the people he supervises, no matter how inept he may be at his job. There's lots of laughs in his embarrassing speech to Ryan's class, and lots of great human moments, like when he gives Pam the acceptance she needs when her art show's going poorly. Really great work on both the comedy and emotion front.
One of the best episodes. I laughed hysterically throughout! The jokes were relentless!
If ever Ivar was at the peak of insanity, it is now.
Favourite moments:
Alfred, staring intently at Bjorn.
Bjorn, taken aback: ....... What?!
Alfred, with dramatic pause: You... cut your hair.
Bjorn: ... ???
It took me a moment to recognise him in the next scene haha.
The way Jim looks at Pam kills me
Jessica is the perfect example why some guys think of girls/women the way they do. She had "special" conversations both with Mark and Barnett, then she was surprised that after she made up her mind and chose the latter, she fell between two stools and got angry when Barnett played the same card on her as she did on Mark. The devoted guy got dumped by a woman who isn't even worthy of him (by what I saw, at least). Then when she's dumped, she goes back to the devoted guy.
And dudes keep falling for Jessicas.
On a funnier note... Is Rory every guy's best friend or relationship coach or what? xD I wanna see him spitting that wisdom to girls too, not just the guys!
Do you think I can have one more kiss? I'll find closure on your lips, and then I'll go. Maybe also one more breakfast, one more lunch, and one more dinner. I'll be full and happy and we can part. But in between meals, maybe we can lie in bed one more time. One more prolonged moment where time suspends indefinitely as I rest my head on your chest. My hope is if we add up the "one mores" they will equal a lifetime and I'll never have to get to the part where I let you go. But that's not real is it. There are no more one mores. I met you when everything was new and exciting, and the possibilities of the world seem endless. And they still are... for you, for me, but not for us. Somewhere between then and now, here and there, I guess we didn't just grow apart, we grew up. When something breaks, if the pieces are large enough, you can fix it. Unfortunately sometimes things don't break, they shatter. But when you let the light in, shattered glass will glitter. And in those moments when the pieces of what we were catch the sun, I'll remember just how beautiful it was. Just how beautiful it'll always be. Because it was US. And we were magic. Forever.
"Waiting for an old friend".
Damn you Three-Eyed Raven!
I expect this episode to win some awards. Sterling K. Brown is pure talent.
I can't believe Jake missed the opportunity to land a Home Alone joke about Kevin.
i was very much in the mood to fistfight people after this
The fighting scene between Sun and Mun was so beautiful.
I'm so freaking charmed by Mr Jarvis that I can't even.
A very solid season starter. In this starter, everyone but Bill is putting on a facade to prove that they are not damaged from last season's fallout.
Virginia is desperately trying to prove that is is every bit as capable as Bill is, but I suspect that she doesn't believe that herself. For better or worse, she needs Bill as much as Bill needs her to be in her top form.
Libby is rightfully angry and bitter, but and completely engulfed in misery and unhappy. I hope she finds herself, much like Margaret Scully. But I am afraid she's chasing after Betty Draper/Francis of Mad Men.
As for Bill, it is fascinating to see his transformation from a control freak in season 1 to a resigned... well, hobo.
This episode reminds me that although other sitcoms may be more consistently hilarious and creative (Brooklyn 99), there is currently no other one I like more in capturing the feeling of being among a group of friends hanging out who enjoy each other's company very much.
