First anime I started to watch and it was a pleasent suprise. I haven't played with the game so I have no background knowledge about the storyline. I enjoyed the characters voice and the overall design. Will watch S2 as well.

@itspencer Just letting you know, this isn't an anime. The series was made in America, not Japan.

VIP8Good world building, I would've preferred it the Pokemons looked more like animals and less like cartoons, but this Roger Rabit approach will do. Also, decent cinematography and score. But, the script’s complete ass (conveniences, unnecessary exposition, uninteresting characters without development, extremely predictable storyline etc.) aside from some of Pikachu’s snarky lines, so you’ll probably get bored at some part.

@jordyep not only uninteresting characters but also overly stupid characters...
Or when "genius professor" leave his unprotected body in room with his rival #1, very cleaver, indeed genius move
So many facepalm moments, my face literally hurt after watching this movie.
But Pikachu was indeed cute, tho
Eff me, this is a 2 cour show... going to drop this then. Really hoped for this to be an above average isekai but it really isn't. Any promise of individuality in the first episode was not touched upon and it instead went the boring Gary Stue-lets-be-friends-with-everyone route without a hint of an interesting story to be found.
(If you haven't seen a few of these enjoy yourself, be my guest but I'm too old for this now ;))loading replies
@aiven Too bad but that is exactly why I dropped it in the first place :). The casual viewerbase still seemed to still like it a lot at the time hence my note :).
Your lewdness issue to me still seems like a lost cause in anime *g. I don't see nudity alone as much as an issue and didn't think it was used in a lewd way here. The big-milkies-head-over-heels ogre lady or the hostess ladies were more in the vain of fanservice tbh.
You could call this a real cyberpunk anime.
A pretty abstract and philosophical story about identity and who we really are. It leaves the viewer questioning about more than just the series itself.Juicy detail: It is rumoured to be one of the series that had an influence on The Wachowski brothers for The Matrix story. However I don't know if this is ever confirmed or true, and it probably was a minor one compared to Ghost In The Shell. After all it was aired only 1 year before the release of The first Matrix movie.
It is not for everyone, but if you have an open mind and like more gloomy and philosophical stories, it is definitaly worth it.
