I don't get why people love this episode. It has great visuals and the world is intriguing, but there is no story. A banal episode of two outcasts coming together and insta love out of sheer loneliness. I would love to see what they could do with a feature length though.

@wynter02 well, it has love, death and... robots
I love Alma and Beth’s dynamic! They are a cute small family!! Alma is supporting of her even tho she doesn’t understand much of chess (she reminded me of my mom always supporting me through out my career even tho she didn’t understand or knew about the subject) and together they are living their best lives with a little of luxury!! The only thing that’s a red flag is Alma letting her drink, but since Alma doesn’t know about her addiction pill probably she thinks it’s just a sip of vodka or just one beer.

after the next episode I take my words back (:

@aars26 supporting but mostly using. It is not necessary a bad thing, friendship and family should have some benefits, but in is case Alma really more like an agent rather than mom
I don't know why it gives me that Stormfront wants a son from Homelander, now you imagine the child that can come out of that merger. Fear gives me

@slyazx he said this world, not witcher's
I'm beginning to think the writing team only had three good episodes in them. Getting predictable and drawn out.

@darksilver what do you mean? it was literally breathtaking
I see many people here complaining that the message of this episode was blatantly obvious and simple, but I don't really think that is the point of the episode.
In my interpretation, this episode was mainly here to tell a story of a tragic character that does immoral things out of desperation whilst also showing glimpses of humanity in his actions, which in no way justify his actions. Similarly, they try to humanise each and every side of this story. Even the big CEO of the company that arguably does a lot of social evil has his big humanising moment, where he admits that it all spun out of control, and I think we can all relate to that.
There is no evil character. It is all a complex web that creates evil, and the point, as I see it, was not to bash into the heads of people to not text and drive, or to stop using social media, but simply to tell a story. A story that utilises the all-consuming technology in our society, and I think it does that job fantastically. It is suspenseful, layered, and incredibly moving.

@bollogg and also about the curse of regret that has been passed to Jaden, because he is the one to blame for Chris's death (at least he might think like this).
I found the story of Zima Blue a kind of catharsis of the concept of artificial intelligence, which at the same time scares us and excites us. A simple robot cleaner who initially evolves thanks to his master, emancipates himself from him to become a more than sentient being, an artist able to touch the highest peaks of creativity. A worlds explorer, who reaches a level of consciousness and knowledge of the whole universe comparable to Dr. Manhattan. Until the epilogue, which I personally find brilliant, the absolute sum of an intelligence...

@keddyan it is not ironic if it is on purpose
this is definitely in my top 5 so far
love the animation
really enjoy the parallels within the story itself
the journey of these two characters natural Born enemies who find strength in themselves as they have to endure a ever-changing world around them
I also really enjoy the mixture of real life history with a steampunk science fiction aesthetic

The visuals and aesthetics were great in this as well as the kinetic animation style but the story massively leaves you hanging the twist is already hinted at from the get go anyways.

@juliensavoldi and this unreasonableness "leaves you hanging" as sp1ti said. I feel myself unfulfilled after watching this episode /: imo, loop plots are always bad idea

@scottkuhl or all 2 seasons were his adventure all along, and in 3rd season we will watch alternative version of first two seasons.
"Will he kill Dolores this time? Will he let hosts escape?? WHO KNOWS? SEE YOU IN THE NEXT SEASON."
This episode was more ENGAGING to me. If you're only into the main story, then yeah, nothing happened, but you're missing good storytelling, world-building and expletive ninjas too. We got to see Shogun World!
Walking into the Japanese version of Sweetwater, with a version of Paint it Black did in a Japanese style was so amazing I can’t even describe. Great way to reference the same scene in the first episode. This show pays such good attention to detail I love it.
Maeve OP since this patch, please nerf.

nothing happened
What about Teddy?
And this "new voice"? I bet Maeve's adventures is not some kind of sidestory, it's parallel plot, part of the main story.
Can't believe all of the negative comments. This was a beautifully shot, well thought out story. Everything in it had a purpose. And that final shot was the clincher. This was a story about the human spirit.
