I believe this show needs a special kind of audience. Some of it's own breed.
Totally support the idea of being art, more than just entertainment. But doesn't have to exclude each other.
For people who have the patience going to a museum and look at a piece of art for a long time and making their own thoughts.
Nothing is explained down to the obvious here.
I will continue watching and would vote for a second season.
Very happy that things like this still exist.
Thank you, team "loop".
Fantastic stories, great cinematography and production values, excellent performances and a superb soundtrack.
The focus of the series are the people and the storytelling, not the special effects or other hollywood super hero bs.
The world and the character building are top notch. Dark, mysterious, melancholic, with a nostalgic feeling in it. just perfect series. In fact, i can't find anything that bothers me.
This is art.
Natasha Lyonne (Orange is the New Black, American Pie) is trapped in a Psychoalphadiscobetabioaquadooloop until she learns to swim, and catches the rhythm of the strokes..... COMPLETELY clichéd, but oddly watchable, if only for the creative ways she keeps managing to off herself, in spite of desperately trying not to.
It’s nice to see Marvel do an adult animated show. I don’t think this show is great, but it does have its moments where it makes me laugh. I’m hoping that this show at least does well enough where Marvel won’t scrap the idea of doing any adult animated shows in the future.
Apple had the courage to compare this to some of the well established animated TV shows in the push notification they used to advertise it. While those are comedy shows, Central Park is not one. It’s a musical and a bland one at best.
As a long time fan I was slightly concerned that Steve Coogan’s most famous character being rebooted ran the risk of tarnishing its top-notch reputation.
No need to worry - it’s an inspired move to allow AP onto prime time national telly. After all these years he’s got the break. And he’s done the ‘rags’ part, why not the ‘riches’?
The question is of course, how will he avoid the axe if his trademark tactless and petty behaviour continues?
It matters not, just enjoy the ride while it lasts.
His cringe-inducing antics don’t feel like they were overly scripted, so are credible. His feeble attempts to play the Paxman on the ‘hacktivist’, interrupted by his agonisingly embarrassing attempted chat-up of Emily Maitless. Maitland. That’s what I said.
It’s wonderful to see Lynne get some laughs of her own - the way she verbally crucified Alan’s joke stealing sofa-partner was priceless.
2/10 TERRIBLE
My god this is bad….
I like Catherine Tate but she has created the most loathsome character ever!!!!
The jokes fall flat and are very dated, the situation comedy part is skin crawling bad and there’s not one likeable person in the show…
I forced my way through episode 1 and then did the same again for episode 2, hoping I could see so glimmer of hope.
It never came!!!!!!
The first few episodes start off a bit shakey and a lot of the characters initially start off a bit dense and/or one dimensional. I would urge you to give it another go and get through a couple of episodes. After that, this show proves it is entirely worthy of the score and praise it gets.
Naked and Afraid is a surprisingly interesting survivalist show, where a man and woman try to survive in the wild for 21 days. And yes, they are naked... and blurry.
While I like the show, it has some flaws. Naked and Afraid often turns out to be Naked and Starving, since 21 days with little or no food is doable. Another problem is that participants are allowed only one survival item each, but really there are three necessary items: a knife, a firestarter, and a pot. So, most pairs go with the knife and firestarter and just hope to find a pot substitute. It adds some spice when someone varies from this, but mother nature punished duct tape boy and magnifying glass girl for their innovations.
There is survival information to be learned, but not a lot. You learn that drinking from questionable water sources is punishable by death (or close to it.) You learn that starting fires is a lot harder than it looks, especially in a wet environment. You see these things over and over, when it would be more enjoyable to keep learning new things. Perhaps the most important lesson is that there is just no way in hell you are going to survive in the wild with minimal tools, considering that some of these people have trained their whole lives for this and nearly all of them starved.
The spin-off show, Naked and Afraid XL, fixes a lot of the flaws.
