I really hope this show gets better, because episode 1 was a travesty. The script is so generic it hurts. My wife and I called every plot point before it happened. The acting is laughable, there was no conviction in anyone except Carrie Anne Moss. Dialogue was embarrassing. This was an absolute shitshow. Disney once again shows us the quickest way to the bottom.
I felt bored and the acting felt lackluster. The overall plot just felt dull, like there was nothing there. And some of the sets/costuming looked so cheap, like something bought at an Anime con
I was totally hyped when I saw a new star wars serie was aired. But what a downer! I couldn't even finish the episode. It was that bad! The acting was excruciatingly bad! It felt more like I was watching a fanmade show! I thought the latest expendables movie was bad, but this was even worse!
Very underwhelming and disappointing pilot episode.
So disappointing. My expectations were already rock bottom. Bad acting, bad dialogue, predictable story, boring characters. Some of the costumes looked like comic con outfits. Couldn't even get the Neimoidian voices right. It genuinely felt like I was watching a Doctor Who episode at some points (and not a good one). Star Wars is officially dead and Disney killed it.
The fight scenes were quite impressive. I was not happy that Carrie Ann Moss was killed off right away. But overall a decent episode.
I would like to believe this is real but whenever they do a trick of any kind the camera cuts to a different shot at the pivotal moment, eg. When they wax the guys back it would have been so easy to leave the camera rolling on a shot where you see the wax strip applied then removed but it cuts away just before it’s ripped off. Even if they cut away after it was applied but cut to a medium close up that showed the guys head and the strip being removed, that would have sold it much better. When Justin levitates the box he is standing behind it so he can hold it with the hand behind the box while holding his other hand up. All these lame little tricks don't set up the finale very well and the whole show hinges on Justin being a likable guy with a trustworthy face.
If the last guy pranked wasn’t in on it to start with, I’m going to guess that he woke up along the way and they had to get him to pretend.
Cheating already, in episode 2! BOO. If you're a good enough baker, you shouldn't have to modify the decoys to fool the judges.
The aerial scenes are really good. Shame what transpires on the ground is so bland and uninteresting. No real context. No feel for the command decisions, just airmen soap drama. I wanted to fast forward once the planes hit the deck, and that's no way to watch a show.
Weakest episode of the season. That Covid plot feels like 4 years old. Bruce cameo was wasted.
Steve Buscemi and Conan O'Brien could have been used better here.
Funny ending, but it felt like it took a while to get there
Generally I think this could be a great show but introducing what felt like 100 characters in different scenarios over the first 30 minutes alone might have been a bit too ambitious and made it rather hard to figure out what is going on with whom and where…
What's up with that technique of splashing around soap in the air?
You knew that statue was going to be the pay-off the moment it appeared. Lol, funny episode.
That photo at the end tho!!!!
Is that a real law in Georgia, wtf?!?!
The moment I realized LD was back in good form was when he started screaming slurs at Siri. This happens to me around 30% of the time I'm alone with a customer service robot.
That was pretty, pretty, pretty good for a first episode. True advert for Siri and the “trump” mugshot were classic Larry David.
Why does anyone give 2 shits about what happened in Russia. They are a bunch of thugs.
That twist on Greatest Hits was so much fun! And I love hearing Wayne's laugh.
Even Lilith can't resurrect this...
Not bad though a step down from last episode. Freddy and Eve need to grow some more. Thankfully the David moments are kept to a bare minimum. Maybe the writers are getting the picture.
respect to Tiffany for giving thanks to Laura and Linda
So good to have decent hard science fiction back on the air. Technology on the show has progressed to the point where I can start to see and feel parallels with The Expanse and Mass Effect (minus the aliens... ...so far). The visuals have also really gone up another level. The wide shots of them towing the asteroid are incredible!
I also missed the Soviet political intrigue. Now that The Americans is finished, it's a good way to keep myself from making the mistake of rewatching all of that again. Not because it's bad, but because I won't be able to stop. My backlog of stuff I haven't watched would put a curse on me.
Strong start, no time wasted. A much better start than teen angst and love triangles in the space hotel. This show really has become the heir apparent to classic Star Trek. Instead of a humanity that drives itself to the brink of extinction and has aliens hold their hands as they learn to travel the stars, humanity saves humanity. A humanity that prevents itself from becoming complacent and keeps feeding the hunger to go further. And we get to watch how, instead of making a perfect utopia, it simply makes the world better one little bit at a time. This is the show that will make future generations look upward and get inspired to be their best selves. And hopefully some of that positive change will affect this version of humanity.
(I always smile when I see the Okudas in the credits. They are good stewards of this show the way they were good stewards of Star Trek. Their respect for the story helps set For All Mankind shoulders above the rest.)
this is the first episode I felt had the spirit of the original
Best one of the hew series! Seems more like the old Frasier.
