This was highly disturbing. I didn't enjoy seeing any of it, at all, which is the only reason I didn't give it a higher score. But from an objective stand-point everything about this movie is superb. Directing, acting, editing, all that jazz. All of it is perfectly made and the message is powerful although obvious. I don't usually feel sorry for people when they're the ones who fucked themselves up but this time I could tell that none of the characters actually wanted this and they were incapable of thinking for themselves and they just needed help. So fucking sad. The last 20 minutes or so will haunt me for a long time, if not forever.
If there ever was a movie to show why drugs are bad, it's this one. They couldn't just be happy taking a few drugs could they.
Charlize Theron gives one of the best female performances in the last decade, unfortunately the rest of the movie does not reach the level of her brilliance. Well worth the watch for Theron's performance.
Charlize Theron played the hell out of this role. Holy shit.
Also, controversial opinion maybe, but Selby was more of a monster than Aileen ever was in this movie. I said what I said.
the one time I was like yeah that dog had it coming
