Season four has been a serious let down,i expect a lot better from a top class show.

@kingy72 Yes, but you can tell they were given an ultimatum to finish the series rather than continue more seasons. There was so much more content left to be explored, and they compressed it into two half-seasons.

Ozark: 4x14 A Hard Way to Go

A dark ending that is consistent with the essence of the series, giving meaning to this second half of the season to give a proper closure to all the stories. Ozark is positioned as one of the best series on the platform.
Laura Linney's performance as Wendy Byrde is impressive, she becomes the darkest character in the series.

@miguel3199 Wendy had the furthest fall from light to dark across the whole series. And Ruth had the most growth, from dark to light.

Unfortunately I think they didn't quite stick the landing with this one. The second half of the season just fell a bit flat too me. Too plot-holey and too clean.

I still love the show in it's entirety but just a tad disappointed with the finale.

@jshwlr Yes, you can tell that they had so much more content left to explore, but were probably given a hard decision to end rather than do one or two more seasons.

How come that landing the ending is so hard for so many series but rarely for movies. We had a major cliffhanger at the beginning of the first part of this season which ended up being a red herring. Is it because we can't let "the bad guy" win or are they really considering every viewer and want to please all making it suck for even more of 'm.

Killing Ruth so late in the game was pointless. Same with Navarro really since he gets replaced by someone who most likely is even worse. And then they pull this Sopranos ending at the end? To prove what? How a kid shoots either an honorable man or his parents or that he shoots in the air for no reason in particular. In what book is this a good ending? Nothing is resolved, nothing is cleared up, it doesn't end even though it ended. Pointless second half of a season from a great show with the biggest cunt I've ever witnessed in a series (Yes Wendy "I got what I wanted to all of a sudden I'm sane again and everyone loves me" Byrde).

Maybe there isn't a good ending, but this certainly was the lamest way to end it.

@mansemat "How come that landing the ending is so hard for so many series but rarely for movies." for one simple reason, movies only have 1-2 hours of content to tie up, whereas tv shows usually have a minimum of 10 hours, sometimes 100 hours, and there are so many loose ends that have to be tied together to do it properly. Avoiding plot holes and making actions make sense is challenging. Not defending bad endings, just stating that it is much more complex than we non-show-producers give them credit for.

@miguel3199 Laura Linney is one of the finest actors of our age. Right up there with Bryan Cranston as Walter White.

In term of final season's identity change, Sally somehow has it rougher than Kim Wexler.

I think due in part to the fact that although they both made their choices to join a sick man, Kim was very resourceful about it, while Sally is becoming crippled by it. it's always harder when you don't have the tools to handle a situation, even when it looks easy from the outside.

Also, Barry is literally a murderous (conflicted) psychopath, whereas Saul was less psychopathic and definitely less murderous. That can cause anyone to have a harder time to cope with reality.
