A satisfying end to what has been a pretty good horror trilogy. Sure, it played out like an extended episode of Scooby Doo but thanks to the creative talents behind the movie, this didn’t hurt it at all.
A Netflix movie that's....actually pretty good?? How did they not make this suck. Good job.
'Apparently on Legion' that's genius
01x08 - The Key: 8/10 (Great)
“What we know is a drop. What we don’t know is an ocean”
Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese have created another excellent science fiction show, although “1899” differs greatly from their past efforts. The big reveal at the end was precisely what I suspected and the most logical explanation. Although the mystery has been revealed to some extent, I have no doubt that Season 2 will also surprise us in many more ways. Akin to Inception's dream within a dream, I suspect the spaceship is only another simulation. While I can understand why some people may be disappointed by the finale, anybody familiar with this duo would know that they are saving their biggest reveal for later. All the pieces are in place for an epic season two, so a round of applause to everyone involved in developing this show; I, for one, cannot wait for what is next.
This show is something truly special.
After watching last week's episode, I thought Amy was written off and we would no longer see her again (seeing as she had not appeared in this season so far, it felt a bit like they were dealing with a loose end). However, she did "return" as we were treated to what other versions of David would be like, had he made different choices at certain points in his life.
This episode was quite a ride. It starts in a confusing note, taking you completely off the usual happenings of the show, but you are relatively quick to find out where you are once you get a little more information. In between David's various lives, they very subtly added events from our own David's life, I guess to show us that these were all possibilities... but then we get a "season 1 recap" and see the final moments of the previous episode again, reminding us that this is our reality.
This episode needs to be watched again to get every detail properly, but I gather that regardless of how terrible another life could be for David (from getting killed to becoming a rich prick), anything beats a reality where his sister is gone, which is incredibly sad and beautifully done.
Between this episode and the one focused on Syd's life, what a glorious show. (The Syd one is probably my favourite of all)
01x05 - The Calling: 8.4/10 (Great)
Episode 5, “The Calling,” picks up the pace after a few slow episodes and hints at what may be happening. Not only do the electronics in Henry's chamber appear like they belong in the late 20th century and not the 19th, but we also get a hint that Maura's father might be in charge of the whole situation. With the addition of Daniel's possession of a LED torch in the year 1899, it seems increasingly likely that he has travelled across time or that alternate realities exist. Perhaps the people in charge are based in the twenty-first century or the far future, and everything we see is a simulation? It was eerie to see so many people following what sounds like a metronome to their deaths; this likely fits in with the signs we've had about a mental facility. Excellent sequence, amongst the best of the show. A part of me is disappointed by the horror in “1899”, which has felt somewhat underwhelming. There was room to make it scarier, but the creators, unfortunately, opted against exploring that avenue. So far, I'm loving it; it's reminiscent of Severance in many ways, and I'm hoping they can nail the resolution.
That’s what she gets for not bringing Leanne Krispy Kreme donuts
the scenarios, the setting and the care for nostalgia are positive points without being too exaggerated. even some cinematography techniques are reminiscent of 90s movies.
I couldn't care less by the LGBT surprise because... why a lesbian character is a surprise? it is so much a surprise as a straight couple... i don't get it why some people are praising this. we are all the same.
I'm noticing a growing trend on killing major support characters after a long development and this is somewhat positive for the audience to react with more emotion to the story, BUT i fear that this could get old very quickly.
overall it's a good movie and the trilogy release strategy it's an interesting one.
really Good movie first movie to make me feel like in in a slasher setting vibe in a long time
It's a decent horror / thriller movie.
There's some slow moments but overall it manages to hold the attention and provides with gore and excitement.
Are you gonna shoot it or get it pregnant :joy:
10 minutes ???? There is something wrong
