Quite possibly one of the most important sci fi sitcoms to date. Really paved the way for stuff like Rick and Morty.
Alright, 3 episodes in, and that means it's review o'clock. I haven't watched The Office, so I wasn't particularly attached to this new series, but I highly value the cast.
The trailer was horrible. It felt boring as heck, but I gave the show a chance anyway. I'M LOVING IT!
It is funny, interesting, and has good character development. The characters are lovable, whereas the story might not be that believable – but it's not supposed to be; it's a comedy about space. Silicon Valley and their compression algorithm anyone?
My ratings tend to be a bit emotional, so realistically this could probably be around 8/10. "Unlearn" The Office if you've watched it, and understand you're watching something completely different. Unlearn Star Wars and Star Trek, and understand that it's a lighthearted treatment of space.
Give it a shot, chances are you'll like it.
I never was a Bon Jovi fan (my girlfriend is), but liked the documentary a lot. Found it very interesting how the band got big and am pretty impressed how JBJ kept his feet on the ground and didn't get drowned by fame (married his high-school girlfriend, no drugs, no dramas...).
Also a little bit sad to see how he is fighting against his voice issues.
The bright colours, the haunting and melodic soundtrack and the excellent acting, direction and writing! This one is a work of art!
i really don't know why the votes here are so low for the series.
i just finished the first episode and thought it was freakin excellent. astounding worldbuilding in the Pilot, which isn't an easy feat to accomplish.
i am VERY excited to watch more and i cannot wait for next week
Television at its very best. It oozes quality, be it in terms of writing, acting or photography. Utter, complete and exemplary brilliance. I couldn't possibly be happier with it.
It's a pity they spend all this money on special effects but don't bother employing anyone with actual space knowledge to make it realistic, first episode in and we're going to the moon in a shuttle and the booster rocket stays attached until they are almost there but a bolt rattles looses at the point where it wouldn't. Then we're on the moon surface looking into the direction of the sun with clear visors.
it's a one time watch. average storyline.
This was the first Anime I've ever watched, as I decided to give the whole shindig a chance. I've definitely got off on the right foot as I absolutely loved this. The post-apocalyptic preserve mankind sci-fi setting is a great one. The character development of Vincent (whom you might call the protagonist) is unlike I have ever seen in any movie or TV-show. The story line is a heavily emotionally and psychologically entangled journey and it often left an impression after watching an episode.
"I think, therefore I am".
Started off alright, but got ridiculously boring quickly.
I have mixed feelings with this. On one hand, the story had all major points for a RE story; it actually felt part of the RE world. On the other hand, the story itself was really meh. I liked the mention of Ashley and the RE4 events; which was always kinda forgotten from every following game, movie, etc.. With the animation also have mixed feelings: At some points the realism was off the charts and it was hard to notice it was actually an animation and not IRL, but at others it felt even worst that some cinematics in games (for that matter, in these cases, i think RE6 for example had better realism in the cinematics). Some up points were hair and eye movement and a small detail that i personally liked, dust particles on the light of the flashlights. But they were small compared to, for example, some walking scenes that felt really wonky and weird (the last walk from Leon is like a 2000 game walk). Anyway, it's ok; no more than a 6. I still prefer the animated movies and i'm still waiting for the movie/series/game that brings every major character in RE together (like a big Avengers Endgame, but for RE)
The first half of the show is set up quite well, especially in tone and atmosphere. The second half loses that charm and mystique for by-the-books action set pieces and melodrama. It could've done so much better. Sigh.
Yet another survival show but this time a group of people are surviving a virus outbreak which is actually in the Rain. A small plot being dragged for 8 episodes and it doesnt even have a proper ending or any twists where you want to look out for a second season. Could have been better. 5/10
The first two episodes were amazing, exactly what this genre needed to stay relevant and interesting in present times.
BUT, after that point the show fell off a cliff into mediocrity.
Massively disappointing. I doubt I will return for Season 2 (if there ever is one).
Alien vs Predator vibe (when you are playing as marine...). Otherwise with scientifically dumb ideas and somewhat unprofessional crew, but that's typical for many sci-fi today.
Dan Levy's and Annie Murphy's faces make this show to me, but each character certainly has their moments and the chemistry is undeniable. It doesn't beat you over the head. It doesn't try to force inappropriate or awkward jokes where they don't belong. I love that it relies on the over-the-top personalities and just their sense of being in the Schitt's Creek world. This is a show that all of the I'M SOOO RANDOM AND WEIRD younger "comedians" need to learn from in that you have to have a person and character first, not merely caricatures that behave like you'd expect. With each episode you find a reason to fall for even the smaller part cast members. A show that stays in its lane with a strong voice. In the modern TV environment, it speaks volumes.
Love and miss Futurama... I wish it would come back.
Besides having really gorgeous, mind-bending rotoscoped animation, this show doesn't shy away from some important themes such as mental illness, death, relationship problems and more. It reminds me of "A Scanner Darkly" and "Waking Life" (2001), mostly due to the art style, but they have other similarities as well. You should expect some time travel elements, although they're not as complicated as, say, those in Netflix's "Dark". That might change in the next season though, if we're ever getting one.
I bailed after ep. 3. If you can't tell a story without constantly interrupting it with vapid flashbacks of a past life, you're not a good writer.
It started with potential, but quickly derailed into something soapy and far-fetched.
Psycho-Pass was an absolute thrill to watch with its excellent combination of a intricate plot and ever-developing characters that were all set in a very thought-provoking dystopian future Japan. This show grabbed me instantly and wouldn't let go. The over-arching plot is just superb with plenty of twists, shocking moments, varying sets/situations and even a few feels along the way. The use of criminal-coefficients and the Sibyl system along with the themes that they invoked have been done before but I thought that P-P put a very cool and unique spin on it. This wasn't just an "evil" big brother system that was controlling every one in a totalitarian manner. There were very clear benefits to this so-called "perfect" system and this is where a lot of the show's conflicts arise.
The characters are also where the show truly excelled. Kougami was a badass MC with a very clear motivation for "justice" but was constantly walking the tightrope between what was right and vigilantism. I initially thought that the female MC, Akane, was a bit weak but I was definitely proven wrong. Her development from a naive and gullible newbie to a true and intuitive detective struggling with the ideals and purpose of the Sibyl was handled excellently. It was very believable and followed along with my same feelings about the world of P-P. The other supporting characters were very strong as well especially Masaoka. And, last but not least, was the villain Makishima. He was truly one of the best villains that I've seen in a while with his brilliant schemes, awesome dialogue (so many quotes from brilliant authors from Shakespeare to recent philosophers), and his very distinct motivations. You could really sympathize and understand what he was trying to accomplish yet at the same time, despised/loved him at the same time.
Watch this show ASAP. This is one psychological thriller that you shouldn't miss. You won't be disappointed. I can't wait for the movie and the second season to come out.
Its a decent show, but much of the hype is more due to the fact that its a korean show that its actual quality.
It is above average, but doesn't rise to excellency.
This was fun. Now I know where the far-right get their Deep State conspiracy theories from.
How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!
It’s so weird that they had better animation 15 years ago. Cheap project.
