This movie is so moving and thoughtful
Besides having really gorgeous, mind-bending rotoscoped animation, this show doesn't shy away from some important themes such as mental illness, death, relationship problems and more. It reminds me of "A Scanner Darkly" and "Waking Life" (2001), mostly due to the art style, but they have other similarities as well. You should expect some time travel elements, although they're not as complicated as, say, those in Netflix's "Dark". That might change in the next season though, if we're ever getting one.
Hahaha, that was a mouthful -- gonna be sad when I finish this.
Very nice movie! Especially the children and dogs actors – chapeau :thumbsup_tone1:
The show presents orthodox Jewish like something absolutely apart from reality, with almost all the members awfully soulless, and robotized for its traditions.
It’s mostly cons, without pros. But...The fact is... there’s a big part of it that is indeed true, unfortunately.
About the acting, the protagonist is really convincing: she is always suffering, even smiling.
this episode is what I want in my life!!
legalized it worldwide!! come on this plant is the shit , tegridy my regridy please!!
Wow, this was one of the best episode I ever saw. Almost without any action scenes, I was on the edge of my seat all along.
It also appears that all the non-english episodes are much better than others. The native tongue is beautiful and the acting, especially Zahn McClarnon's, was superb.
Unfortunately, Trakt.tv won't let me give 12/10 hearts when I go (does someone wants to give his/hers in their place?)
"I wanted to help you too. I wanted to warn you, but in this world it's easy to misunderstand intentions. I wanted to give you the truth. I watched over you, day after day trying to keep you safe, but it was a promise you couldn't keep. Someone else was watching you too." - Akecheta
Such a beautiful episode. Just the simple fact that by the end of the episode we feel empathy and respect for Akecheta (a character that appeared what, only 10 minutes throughout both seasons?) shows how well written and loved all characters are in this show. Perfect casting.
This is the best episode of the season so far, maybe the best episode of the show. Akechta's story is heartbreaking. When he was walking around looking for Kohana and found her and then realized he could do nothing about it really got to me. That piano cover of Heart-Shaped Box was fantastic too.
There's a lot happening in this episode but it's all so clunky. Westworld is usually pretty good with not playing favorites and allowing the main characters to get messed up pretty bad and "dying" but this episode had way too many situations where Dolores or Teddy or Maeve or whoever hit every single fucking shot except for the shots on major characters. A lot of the dialogue and choices that were made were also questionable and the convergence of the timelines was so inferior to how it was done in the first season it's not even really comparable.
Pros
+Maeve confronting Man in Black
+Possessed Bernard
+Dolores intimidating the dumb bitch using her father
Neutral
*Teddy going berserk
Cons
-while the confrontation with William was good, it's setting up the all too obvious daughter rescue mission
-that idiotic decision for that guard to talk to the obviously hostile blonde host lady
-pretty much everyone seems like they're just running around like a chicken with its head cut off
This film was beautiful and heart-wrenching (SO MANY TEARS AND SO MANY SCENES THAT WERE SO HARD TO WATCH) as expected due to the nature of the content. Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones' acting was SUPERB and incredibly beautiful. Redmayne's depiction of Stephen Hawking was absolutely breathtaking, as he brought to life Hawking's wit, genius and uncrushable human spirit through struggle. As well this film allowed me to recognize what a remarkable woman Jane Hawking was and must be. The imagery and soundtrack were also a great benefit to the film. Overall, inspiring and made clearer how little I (and perhaps humans in general) know about the theory of everything...
I got Summer time sadness and I caught it from Radiohead.
'ANIMA' is a spiritual day dream in darkness and into the light. Every shot is a treat to the eyes, especially with the music soothing in the background. Of course the incredible choreography by Damien Jalet is staggering and captivating.
Paul Thomas Anderson and Thom Yorke, I love you guys.
80%? Come on, this is a classic! More relevant now than ever before!
This episode seems to cement the theory that Delos is replacing humans in the real world (that visit Westworld) by hosts or control units.
This is, by far, Wes Anderson's best film. The ridiculous bits are in proportion to the serious parts, the comedy hits its mark every time, the acting is arguably the best in any of his movies, and it has an emotional edge that is lacking in movies these days. If you like quirky movies then you have to see this one, and even if you don't like them you should give this one a try
This the best movie by Wes Anderson. It's charming, funny, sad and tender, yet magical. The ending... it's heartbreaking and sweet. A must-see for everyone.
I'm 27 and I just saw this anime for the first time. In fact, it's the first anime I ever saw and I only watched it because a friend kept telling me how great it was. It had been sitting on my shelf for over two years and last night I figured: what the hell, let's try it.
This movie blew me away. It so perfectly captures the innocence and the exploratory nature of childhood. It enables you to view an ordinary day through the viewpoint of two ordinary young girls. It shows how boring we adults are, and how much fantasy, discovery, emotions and playfulness we have lost since we were kids. There's no macho behaviour, no bad guys, no evil to beat, just two kids growing up in a normal life, but extraordinarily presented.
A perfect coming-of-age movie and one of the most impressive movies I've ever seen. Already one of my all-time favourites. If the rest of Hayao Miyazaki's films are anything close to this, he will have a new lifelong fan.
Yet another survival show but this time a group of people are surviving a virus outbreak which is actually in the Rain. A small plot being dragged for 8 episodes and it doesnt even have a proper ending or any twists where you want to look out for a second season. Could have been better. 5/10
