This movie offers a unique experience. It gives you one of the most genuine and undoctored glimpses into the soulless eyes of corporate Hollywood
There is no love for making movies
There is no love for the source material
The only interest is making something with the specific goal of being a "Blockbuster".
There is nothing to it but the intent of making money.
There's legit nothing to this movie.
Every shot you see is made just for cool trailer moments....
The Characters have no life or personality to them, They don't make any emotional connection with the viewer.
The acting........ no
There's no real plot or pacing
The effects can be good at times but its far and few in-between
The fighting and action scenes are rendered useless with the unprecedented amount of jump cuts done in editing....
I enjoy movies that might have glaring flaws, or even be considered bad, I'm not a heartless critic... But there are no redeemable qualities about this movie.
You can't even spin it as a "So Bad It's Good" movie, its just that incompetent on every imaginable level.
0/10 - Genuinely
Have to say, I was underwhelmed. maybe it's because I watch so many crime shows and movies, and this was made years ago. I know this dude is a legendary director, but this movie didn't hit the spot for me. Was expecting something more dark I guess. Watching shows like The Killing and True Detective, just to name a couple, have made me be spoiled by crime stories. if I had seen it when it came out, I'm sure it probably would have blown my mind. nothing to do with it being a foreign film either, because I believe a lot of foreign movies are better than the American remakes.
There is click bait and there is trailer bait. So there is no Dino vs human and battle for dominion. Nope. Just more of the same. There is just another lab doing evil things where conflict is happening again on a lock down space (a island/park again). In between you have the old cast and new cast and new/new cast (including an Han Solo female replica). Then we get people running in one direction to save a person that is actually going in the opposite direction, we get James Bond spy scenes, Dino pursuits in Malta (the trailer bait) btw the Dino are commanded by a laser pointer!!, several scenes of dark hallways with Dino appearing, evil corporate scientist doing it for the money, scientists that has made a mistake and regrets it, and the obvious big Dino clash at the end.
I don't see why this movie has such high ratings. I REALLY tried to like it, but it was just plain boring. There was little connection to the characters. The grandma was the only character worth noting. Life is hard. Farming is hard. Marriage is hard. Nothing new in this movie. What is the relevance of Minari? Are they comparing the plant to Korean people? That both can grow anywhere? Mind blown. /s
Like a vegan restaurant: no stakes.:pensive:
Meandre / Meander a woman who has to crawl through tubes in a Cube like universe. As she's the only character through much of the movie, we know that she's going to survive every challenge because if she didn't, the movie world stop right there. So...
You know how I watch too many movies? At the beginning of this one I thought, "Hmm, this reminds me of Hostile, I wonder if it was the same director?" And it was, which also tells you something about how original this was.
It was terrible on so many levels. Spiral is supposed to reinvent the franchise but I don't see any original idea in here. It rushes through a painfully predictable plot. Chris Rock is annoying as hell! He plays the worst detective ever, or he just can't act. The rest of the cast is weak. They don't have enough personality to make me care about. It also doesn't push the gore to its usual limits. The traps are very underwhelming and the torture sequences are too short. I don't even care if the victims will make it out alive or not. The twist is too painfully obvious, I literally saw it coming from miles away. The killer's trying to imitate Jigsaw voice is honestly laughable. He sounds so stupid and not even intimidating. It could've been enjoyable if there's no Saw thrown into the mix. This film clearly didn't meet the expectations.
I waited 10 years to watch this because everyone said it was awful. Not a bad flick after all. If you like Stephen King or M. Night Shyamalan then you might like this.
I watch this after 12 years since everyone seems to hate this movie... but finally decided to watch it... now it does have many mistakes and stuff... maybe my expectations where really low cause I actually enjoy this movie... social distancing to survive? Over populated planet? Ring any bells?
Won’t be buying this one but wasn’t as bad as everyone said it was
I guess it was pretty shocking for when it was released, but I personally didn't find the story enjoyable. There are a few pieces of the story they slowly reveal, but nothing was really interesting/exciting to me. Maybe I have seen too many similar movies that have improved upon the formula since this was released.

what a complete f*** waste of time..
If you were evaluating yourself, how many stars would you give you? Serious question I'd love for you to answer in the comments!
I ask because, fittingly, my last film of 2019 reminded me of me: infrequently brilliant, well meaning, and not as clever as it thinks it is.
This Chinese film noir touches on all the tropes but rarely has anything new to offer (though the umbrella scene is one of the best I've seen all year!): Filming clichés slowly doesn't make them more artistic. So, out of a possible 10, I have 6 Fs to give, which is what I'd probably give myself, truth be told!
This is one hour and 20 minutes of people screaming eachother's names while running around in a field of tall grass.
Literally. Nothing else.
