Blood Quantum

I wanted to like this film. I really did. But I either didn’t get the film, or the film was really bad. I know, the zombie film theme is done to death (pardon the pun) and this film certainly brings a breath of fresh air to the genre by mixing Indian elements to it, but that’s about it. I see nothing else unique about this zombie film compared to many others. And I have very low standards when it comes to zombie films. Usually like most of them. Somehow, this film didn’t do it for me.

Would I watch it again? No. Would I make my friends watch it? Hell no!

The Wretched

Well well well... I am not certain what to think of this film to be honest. Overall, yes, it is a horror film and a unique story. But I have a thing against what they call a “teenage horror film.” Somehow these films don’t do it for me.

Overall, the acting was mediocre as well. The make up person of the “monster”, you are the reason I don’t hate this film. Hats off to you.

Would I watch it again? No. Would I make my friends watch it? No.

Sea Fever

It has a promising plot but somehow it lacked substance, especially towards the end of the film. Somehow I was expecting a conclusion to the entire “monster” situation, but then it was left unattended.

Overall, I enjoyed watching the film though. Would I watch it again? No. Would I make my friends watch it? Possibly.

The Lodge

This is the kind of slow-paced thriller / horror I like watching. The kids in the film did an amazing job with their acting so hats off to them. The twist towards the end of the film was certainly not expected.

However, I am not satisfied with the ending of the film. It feels like there are many unanswered questions about Grace's past. The film really had enough scenes to cut so that it could make way for her past but for some reason, the producers did not choose to go down that path. Maybe they wanted to leave up to our imagination.

Maybe I am being too harsh but, overall, it gets 6/10 from me. Would I watch it again? I guess so. Would I make my friends watch it? Sure.

The Hole in the Ground

I usually like slow-paced thrillers. It gives me the opportunity to get to know the characters more than the fast-paced alternative. Couple it with good character development, usually those films are a great watch.

The Hole in the Ground started promising in that front but that’s about it. It just started promising. After the first quarter of the film is over, it all went downhill from there. So many questions were left unanswered

I was hoping that as the film continues, it would all start to make sense but it unfortunately did not.

It felt like the Director and the Writer of the film, Lee Cronin, had an idea in his head and he thought this could be a brilliant film. But he somehow realised once he started making the film that the idea wasn’t that good of an idea actually.

The film gets 5 out of 10 from me. Would I watch it again? No. Would I make my friends watch it? No.

Whitney: Can I Be Me

Wasn’t really sure what to expect from it, but I am glad I watched it in the end. I didn’t know much about Whitney Houston nor am I a big fan of her songs, but the documentary did a good job at highlighting her past, how she got to where she was, her rise and her ultimate fall.

Anybody who is remotely interested in her should watch this.

The Sopranos: 6x01 Members Only

I really enjoyed this episode. It had one of the most unexpected endings throughout the series (so far). While the show has been on its last leg for a while now, it is now apparent that the producers wanted to end the series with a Big Bang. We shall see.
