6/10 fair
It’s a romcom and it’s a fair one at that, no point picking holes, it does what it says on the tin……
The cast is okay and do what is asked of them, the storyline is the normal romcom formate and it doesn’t deviate from it….
You won’t necessarily remember the movie but you will enjoy it well watching it.
Could it have been better?
Probably….
Does it matter?
Not really….
Switch of your brain and watch it and enjoy it, then move on to the next movie you want to watch….
Oh, I did enjoy the credits singalong, very enjoyable and I hope they all enjoyed filming it…..
great acting and really portrays well the ego clashes between the couple
The real enemy in this movie is the mother. But in all seriousness, this is a very good depiction of how a major event can cause a relationship to go from great to bad.
Have you ever wondered what could happen in your relationship if both are working in the same company and not being able to tell anyone because of company policies and one of you getting promoted? This movie gives you a glimpse of one of the possible scenarios. A wild ride! It certainly isn't a perfect film, but it's interesting as hell. Great performances from the leading actors.
Am I the only that actually thought that they seemed to act much smarter when they were kids? I really got the impression that they made dumber decisions as adults.
Totally predictable and a copycat of so many teen rom-coms before it, but… I still loved it. Can’t help myself. I’m a sucker for these cheesy movies.
The film sits like a memory. It is possible to love your life and also grieve for the life not lived. Perfect.
I liked the first half more than the second. The third act seemed to drag a little. The cinematography and music are great.
Really enjoyed the scope and focus of this, every single shot besides the second to last is from the POV of Priscilla.
Sofia does an incredible job at setting and capturing the mood while subverting the expectation of that mood at the same time.
Knockout performances by Cailee Spaeny and Jacob Elordi here. Beautifully shot and set and not to mention the incredible musical direction.
Not going to be for everyone and some may find it a bore, but if you give in to it, it will repay you.
Despite finding Josie's character painfully relatable in some ways, I didn't really enjoy this much. I'm a sucker for the 90's fashion and music, but beyond that there wasn't much to like.
Realistically, the whole motivator for the plot doesn't make sense; the reason for her to be "undercover" is so harebrained. At no point does she have an interesting angle or meaningful lead on a story. This is mostly because the moment she walks in, she basically forgets why she's there and starts making googly eyes at the most popular boy in the school, seemingly just because he is the most popular boy in the school. She is consistently naive to the point of folly.
Josie is a great demonstration of the difference between being intellectual and smart.
I have to say.. it was very uncomfortable watching this movie.
The scariest part of this movie was when that woman said "Everything's better swimming in ketchup."
Bad as horror, bad as comedy, bad as time-travel.
Just bad.
very very weak plot combined with a main character who goes out of her way to make stupid woke statements every possible chance she gets
Bojack: Life’s a bitch and then you die, right?
Diane: Sometimes. Sometimes life’s a bitch and then you keep living.
—
Bojack: La vita fa schifo e poi si muore.
Diane: Qualche volta. Qualche volta la vita fa schifo ma continui a vivere.
This is, to me, one of the best episodes so far, in the entire series. Very well made, in its sublime simplicity.
Social Anxiety: The Movie
It's drama but it's quite horrifying I felt claustrophobic, stressed, uncomfortable, embarassed and awkward - just like family gatherings usually are. Seeing people you'd prefer not to see, old people asking how your life is going and what your plans are for the next fifty years, got a relationship? got a job?... I found it very competent at capturing that. The love triangle/coming of age stuff was well done too, it's not usually my cup of tea but I was invested. It's done in a single location, has a short runtime and the pacing was great. Amazing acting, the camera close-ups help create a claustrophobic watch and the score was superb and kinda horrifying it could have been in a horror movie. Very tense and engaging. That was a wild funeral!
To anyone who enjoyed this, watch Krisha (2015) it's very similar.
"and may God give Mikey the strength to put down that fork"
I think watching this episode is going to be a new holiday tradition. Better than most Christmas movies.
someone plz hug Richie & tell him he has value
One of the worst horror movies I’ve seen in a long time. Terrible acting, bad writing and just all in all so boring that I almost fell asleep. Not recommended.
Well, if I had watched this movie with a satirical tone in mind maybe I'd enjoyed it a little bit (who knows?). But it was a total waste of money and time, to be honest.
More like Boring Boring Boring
As I came to understand with some time, Black mirror is directly talking about media, specifically TV and its derivatives, and our relation with it. In this season, we explore the VHS tech, the Long distance call as avatars, the streaming services, and our exploration of the stars related to this media, To finally end talking about the alienation, the maddening behavior, the inflammation of speeches that comes with this media, this magic mirror we have at home.
Having also a take on genres and exploring the technology that surrounds us since the sixties, the writer and creator also pays homage to British entertainment television while making commentaries on the repercussion these things have in our own story. The woman that gets the protagonist of her life taken from her, the man that loses father, mother and girlfriend to achieve success. The astronaut who loses his family due to gesture of humanity, or the actress who is exposed to the supernatural just for being in the wrong place to record a series.
Finally we have the point of view of a woman cast aside by her reality, treat as less than human by her social circle, and who finds in the tv and the things they show, a comfort.
It’s no coincidence that when this supernatural force materializes, it shows itself as something from Tv, and uses the Tv as a mirror to see itself for the first time.
With its powers, in a snap of s finger, the demon played small edits and cuts from future occurrences, possibilities,
I will not spoil the end here, but I believe you got the point now.
This is still black mirror, it’s still talking about tech and their implications in people’s life’s, but ultimately is providing good stories, condensed movies with plots that entertain.
Loved this season.
Easily the worst of the season, such a shame because this season was on a roll too, did not care for this one whatsoever personally.
Werewolves? In BLACK MIRROR?!?! Are you f*cking kidding me?!
Plot was good but a little confusing. Lot of questions were unanswered even at the end. Instead of a bound script they should have make it simple. But overall It was a decent movie.
Decent. But nothing more. There were some very funny moments - and the two leads Kaitlyn Dever and Beanie Feldstein are more than fine. But at the end of the day it was a movie that just wanted to be 'Dazed & Confused', 'Superbad', 'Edge of seventeen' and 'American Graffiti' too much. And didn't really succeed in any aspect of those movies.
Some audiences will no doubt relate to the characters - realising they should have partied more etc. But there are way too many slightly cringeworthy moments that spoil any depth.
This film was so scary, raw, and realistic. I mean the way they stole that car, genius!
