A man rolls down a hill inna bathtub on wheels. Despite my sarcasm. This is loveable, gentle, easy watching comedy.
The best eighties cartoon. Bar none.
A mildly enjoyable ITV comedy that started off with on the basic premise of - the handyman moves into the house of the single mother. And then inexplicably ran and ran and ran and ran and ran and ran and ran. Thirty years after the premise had played itself out, and with no other ideas to replace it with, it ended.
This was a kids tv show that ran for almost the entirety of the seventies. While the ideas are pretty good, the writing and production, which wasnt stellar to begin with, drops off a cliff after the second or third series.
A forgotten sitcom that is actually really strong, funny and enjoyable as Bill Maynard as the Gaffer tries to keep his factory running amongst unpaid bills, unionised staff and a dolly bird secretary.
This show was brilliant in an extremely subversove way.
Absolute gem of a little show.
I remember reading a terrible review of this show in the Radio Times back in the nineties. It was condemned and forgotten as a failed sitcom. Now ive had a chance to watch the whole thing its a lot better than its reputation suggests. Some good laughs here.
Truly brilliant performances bring Mapp and Lucia to life in the greatest display of hilarious passive aggressiveness seen on screen.
I absolutely loved this show as a kid and it holds up today. Great rural comedy with some of Scotlands funniest actors in roles they were born for.
When the producer of this show tried to contact Alan Moore about this show, he was in no uncertain terms, told to f off and no one from HBO should ever attempt to contact Moore ever again because of how utterly disrespectful and destructive they had been of Moore's masterpiece. There are plenty of garbage shows out there. This one is nuclear waste.
Unfortunately only one episode survives.
I'd never heard of this or any of the people involved. But after the first episode which is a little lacklustre, it had me laughing like a drain. Some more seasons and this could have been one of the greats.
It's not bad because it's racist. It's bad because it's not funny. In any way.
While Josie Lawrence is a very talented woman, she just didnt have the writers to support her. With a few exceptions most of the sketches here are too long and with too few laughs. Where Josie shines is at the end of each show where she makes up a song on the spot, taken directly from her adventures on Whose Line is it Anyway, even accompanied by Richard Vranch. Ironically Paul Whotehouse contributes a few sketches here and obviously learns his lesson for when he went on to co creatw The Fast Show. Short sharp sketches which was what made nineties sketch comedy.
An adaptation of Kipling that is good if you like Kipling or slightly stodgy eighties British costume dramas. It is however fun to watch the late Robert Addie in any of his too few roles and he is great here as Stalky.
Maybe the strangest thing ever broadcast on British television. And absolutely brilliant.
Julia McKenzie has been badly served by tv. This is highly enjoyable for her performance alone. Unfortunately it didnt get to a second series.
Notable for being the Leonard Rossiter's last tv appearance as the manager of a supermarket. Is it any good? No. Somehow it got two further seasons with Bruce Forsyth taking over as Spiller's Day and had a small uptick in quality with some of the episodes being quite enjoyable.
Terry Jones rewrites history from a dodgy book that he read once. This is anti Christian, pro Islam propaganda garbage that doesnt even pretend to be balanced. Attempts to portray the crusades as wars of offence rather than defence.
There is some extremely good drama coming out of Wales that gets almost no traction due to it being Welsh language. This is great tv.
As a tv thriller its pretty good. As propaganda its even better.
If you can overlook the truly terrible special effects, this is really enjoyable and has some pretty good performances.
Another terrible Marc Warren performance really ruins this one.
