Nice, sweet family movie. I don't know why everyone is ranting about it.
Do you remember when you were a tiny child, back before you learnt that poo stank? That scent is what Swedish shocker Gräns / Border smells like.
A unique looking customs officer literally sniffs out the sins of the passengers that pass her. Then, one day she meets a mysterious stranger that shares her same secrets, both visible and hidden.
Everything about this film will make you feel like you're in the wrong zoo, looking at animals you don't recognise and wondering if you like the experience or not.
I can't promise you'll appreciate Border (winner of Un Certain Regard at the 2018 Cannes festival) , as I'm not even sure I did. I feel confident saying, however, that you won't see anything else like it again this year.
I did not expect to be emotionally blown away but here I am watching the credits, speechless. A truly human story. This film is gorgeous. One of the best looking movies I've seen all year. Alfonso Cuarón is a master behind the camera. Yalitza Aparicio does an amazing job, very impressive for her first role. This is a must watch. If you really immerse yourself, you will be in for a treat.
It’s not immediately clear what it’s building towards.
But if you stick with it, you’ll find yourself watching one of the best films of the year.
Surprise of the year for me, this movie completely surpassed my expectations. The characters were a perfect were spot on and the story felt like it was playing out from the game, and the graphics was something else. If you are even remotely interested in this genre this is the perfect gaming movie and for once it will break the curse of crappy game movies. A lot is packed into a short time but its worth it, And I can't wait to see what is next for the WarCraft Universe!
except for the kinda shitty trailer, this movie really suprised me. it got everything right, had much pleasure watching it and cant wait to see more of this fantastic universe come to cinema!
A childish delight full of wonders.
"I got a bad feeling about this flight." - Hurley LMFAO!
Well made with performances so strong that I don't want to spend time with any of the characters portrayed. So effective, in fact, that I didn't want to spend any more time in the theater than was necessary.
If you're into reading books, I'd suggest picking José Saramago's novel and reading it instead of watching this. Blindness is a must-read in my book for any book-reading person, but this movie.... it isn't, forgive the pun, a must-see. It ain't bad but it ain't Saramago.
As dated as it is--and it is dated--there are still some legitimately funny moments. The art direction and costuming are great, and the supporting performances are fantastic.
Boyhood's a very interesting film and, despite not really having any central driving plotline, it flows so organically and realistically. You only get a glimpse of their lives every year but it manages to capture what's happening in a very understated manner and the acting, especially the children's, is so natural and authentic. It allows you to relive your childhood, with all its ups and downs, subtly transitioning from one moment to the next, one year to another, with only the actors' aging and the occasional temporal signposts to mark a particular time.
Everybody should definitely check this out.
Here Nicolas Cage shows how great he is has an actor. We can feel and see the despair in his eyes. A very, very sad movie brilliantly performed. Good soundtrack that deepens the depression feeling.
"It's SHITE being Scottish! We're the lowest of the low. The scum of the f*cking Earth! The most wretched, miserable, servile, pathetic trash that was ever shat into civilization. Some hate the English. I don't. They're just wankers. We, on the other hand, are COLONIZED by wankers. Can't even find a decent culture to be colonized BY. We're ruled by effete arseholes. It's a SHITE state of affairs to be in, Tommy, and ALL the fresh air in the world won't make any f*cking difference!"
FANTASTIC MOVIE! Choose Trainspotting!!
Whilst it rarely feels like much of a departure from the usual Burton tropes (and this is of course another version of a previous Burton film), this is a wonderful homage to horror films and stories for adults that also doesn't alienate its core younger audience who will enjoy the mild scares that come in the final act. The stop motion animation lends a tangibility to the world that CGI can't replicate and the black and white photography is stunning. Burton is a master at developing characters who feel alienated and creating sympathy and understanding towards them, and there is incredible warmth in the relationship between Victor and his dog.
Claymation at its finest. This dark masterpiece explores all the emotions. Loved it!
Historically inaccurate but I love the color of the wind.
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty was good. There's not really much substance to it and the whole thing essentially amounts to "Just Do It", but it's still entertaining and looks incredible. The scenery and colours are just beautiful. It was pretty well acted and paced, the characters were likeable, the script was good and the product placement was blatant.
Good movie.
Not exactly a masterpiece but still pretty good film, and DARK too for a kids movie
I couldn't help but think of Supernatural's recent season With Gadriel/Sam and Dean's Comment i'm gonna get whiplash, while Coraline kept going back and forward from her real parents to her other parents lol
That's what i call a GOOD 'ANIMATION'-Movie. Stop-Motion is so full of love for details.
But i have to warn the Parents around here: The movie is for little kids at some parts very scary.
Anyway. Marvelous, creepy Soundtrack, good english (and german !) Voices.
Movie-Score: 9/10 !
Loved it!! This was a hilarious and beautiful movie wrapped in a conventional story. I didn't even mind Cage's voice as the Dad.
Oh hello there Mr. Shakycam - I hate you.
Not as funny as I was hoping but it's a great portrait of portuguese emmigrants in France. At least I did recognize some of the traits in some of my family and people I know have emmigrated not only to France but also to Germany. The Cayenne had me laughing so much, I mean I haven't seen anyone driving one from France to Portugal, but if it had been a BMW or a Mercedes it would be perfection. :D
Experiment, some people are the guards and the other are prisioners, only 6 days and they must shutdown because of brutality. Some people with power are dangerous. Based in a experiment
This was wickedddddd. The tension was felt in every moment, in every scene and shot. The dark colours light up stark against the oddly steretypical but not out of place music. This compelling storytelling has you on edge through out the movie! If you like thrillers, and stories with unethical motives, give this a shot!
