I'm not too keen on this one.
It's better than The Lazarus Experiment, Stephen Greenhorn's last Who episode, but not by much - and suffers from just not being as good as the rest of Series 4, which - because it's so good, makes the weaker episodes stand out all the more - put this in Series 3 and it's a solid middle of the road episode. It'd probably be one of the better ones of 2 or 7. Jenny needed a bit more development as the show never gives her any room to breath and it struggles to quite get the Doctor/Donna/Martha/Jenny/both factions balance right in this episode, even if I like the dynamic between Donna & Martha (which is refreshingly not combative in the way that Rose/Sarah Jane was) and the reveal about the war only lasting 7 days, 7 days being "generations" to the clones was a pretty effective moment - the emotional beats in this episode did a good job at landing, thanks in no small part due to Tennant's brilliance which makes up for the revelation about The Doctor's daughter being a clone being something of a copout - I remember the days of the speculation back in the runup to this episode as it aired! Not sure all of it stuck the landing.
On the plus side, this is the last (and only) not-as-good episode of Series 4! There's nothing but great episodes from here on out.
How can something so utterly nonsensical be so fucking epic and great?
One of the best finale episodes. Martha saved the world and yet she's crimnally underrated. I also love how she was the only companion of them all to chose to walk away from The Doctor.
Donna: :point_right:It's me!:point_left:
The Doctor: Yeah, I can see that. :face_with_monocle:
ICONIC
That episode where the Doctor saves his future self and his companion is kidnapped by his future companion.
Seeing Tetris cry did give me some form of joy, but another pathetic episode
“i would rather barf to death than go to that” kamala stays winning :100:
So there genuinely was a line of dialogue that goes something like this
'I don't know Jocelyn, he gives of rapey vibes'
Jocelyn - 'Yeah, but I kinda like that about him'
I am not sure why I keep watching it
Strong core group scenes asides, the present-day's plot logistics around them are unreal lol. Walter's plan has me like ???. Really liked the finale's past story though. After fearing for Coach Ben all season, I didn't expect for his character's ultimate goal to be "fuck them kids."
:O THE WOMAN IS PART OF THE SECRET CULT! I WANT CELINA ARRESTING HER LIKE YESTERDAY!!
This is a show with a lot of wasted potential. The characters are very annoying. Namely Ava and Beatrice. Ava's character has a ton of potential that I've yet to see. If it gets renewed I'll give it one last try
Amazing show and extraordinary season. It’s the perfect mix of action, suspense, good sense of humour, friendship, love and character development. It has your heart spinning throughout the whole season and the season finale is just stunning. I totally recommend it.
Season finale feels off. A lot of stupid moments and what about Lilith? She just keeps changing sides.
It's just a fun show and easy to watch. The action is cool and the story easy to follow. The cast is hit or miss if it comes to their acting performances. William Miller (Adriel) made me laugh at times because of his really cheesy style of acting. His evil laugh is just comedic. The director of this show is clearly a big fan of Alba Baptista's curves. I'm not complaining, but the ammount of cleavage and tight tanktops is a bit much and really unnecessary. You can put her in a hazmat suite and she's still gorgeous.
For the most part I enjoy the show. The finale was mostly kick ass. The overall season had some slow parts. The finale ends in a real fuck you cliffhanger. It did get really interesting before the cliffhanger. I suspected the big twist (one of them) early on but I had started to think I was wrong.
The main star (or maybe her character) reminded me of Jennifer Lawrence. The looks a little bit but personality and manner of speech were way similar.
Yep, back on track. Skip episodes 3 through 6 because Ava is a worthless POS and the downfall of all those episodes. She still sucks and is a detriment to the show, but at least she doesn't ruin this episode.
Last 15 mins is where this season actually starts. Everything before that is boring waste of time. Case in point, they spent so much time about Ava wanting a boyfriend & out of nowhere they Drop that storyline with no more mention of those character. Very weak. But half the story is finally starting.
feels like season 1 was just the build up to this show going absolutely off the rails, and i could not be more pumped! this episode was insane.
finding jeff a little harder to take seriously though. what WAS that scene in the car with the papa roach? felt like a meme.
solid start to the season!! i just absolutely loved the way they casually mixed in craziness with normalcy. SOOOO excited for this season
"I'm just a weird, formerly dead orphan."
So this has been bothering me for 3 episodes... why are there no Spaniards in Spain? Everyone is English, Irish, French, or something other than Spanish. Even when they aren't speaking English, they aren't consistent in their Spanish. Who was in charge of this?
And why was Ava running from JC? That made no sense. And then JC says he is going to take Ava to the others and she doesn't follow him but starts in the opposite direction. WTF? Who wrote this?
How did it take Ava so long to figure out she was murdered? She was conscious and aware of what the nun was doing with the needle. Wow... just wow...
Yay, the murdering nun is dead. And here we go again, more pathetic snowflake B.S. from our main character. Yes, you killed the murdering nun. No need to freak out over it. She killed you first...
The nun truly did Ava and the rest of us a favor when she killed Ava. Too bad Ava didn't stay dead... and we all know Lillith won't succeed, unfortunately.
This is getting boring now because of the same repeated acts every ep: The disguises, dumbass adults fail to identify, kids trying to prove and state the damn obvious by putting their lives on the line.
"In all honesty, I prefer long-form television to the movies. It's so much more convenient to consume entertainment from the comfort of your own home." Wink wink
This was such a good, happy episode. It actually warmed my heart to see the children safe and comfortable, if only for a short while. Stephano was absolutely hilarious with his accent and papers that had Count Olaf's information on the other side.
I like that the opening theme changes a bit as we go from one book to the next.
It's cool that we get to see the children's parents. In the books, we never actually found out if they were alive or not, there were little hints that pointed to the former, but we couldn't be sure. Here, we finally have a confirmation.
OMG, that fourth wall break by NPH was incredible.
Melanie Lynskey's storyline feels like filler. The rest is good.
What an amazing show. And this episode in particular was exhilarating and emotional and just very well done. I hope the American version is this good.
