It wasn't awful, but, I think I must be the only person in the world who didn't think it was great. There were times when breaking out into song mid-conversation without some sort of elaborate set-change didn't make sense, The 2 leads weren't exactly talented singers or dancers -- no wow numbers. The sets improved by the time the final number rolled around, but the singing and dancing remained an afterthought.
I REALLY don't get why most people didn't like it. In my opinion it really worked quite neatly
Oh hi trakt
The best new Star Wars film in three decades and one of the most satisfying films of the year.
Well, it wasn't that great a movie. The singing did kill it. I wasn't expecting it to be there, honestly speaking. And somehow, something just didn't click. I know it was a Disney movie, but it just failed to impress.
Decent at keeping up the suspense, but by all means don't watch the trailer. It tells the entire story.
This is a cinema milestone; a true masterpiece of modern times. Maybe one of the most underrated here on trakt ( 71% at the time im writing this )
I have seen this film many many times, last night on my hd tv in blu ray, and looked absolutely amazing, this is a masterpiece, this is cinema's mona lisa, absolutely spellbound watching it, gets better with every viewing
Even my 6-year-old son watches it in complete silence.. There are no words to describe it.
Someone should start a Kickstarter to raise money for Kit Harington to get acting lessons.
Ridley Scott's return to the "Alien" universe, and, oh God, does it suck! I don't understand why people liked this movie so much. Were they just hoping and wanting to like it so much that they blinded themselves to what they were actually seeing? The plot makes no sense, the characters are the dumbest I've ever seen on screen, and the science and technical aspects make it feel like it was written by a Texas home-schooled kindergartner (if you're doing science fiction, you better get the science right). Okay, maybe that last bit is a little mean, but it's still pretty bad. I don't think I've ever rooted for characters dying so much in a movie. It has a few nice visuals. A few. That's it. That's all it has going for it.
Seriously? This junk really won awards? It's not even a movie. More like a crappy CGI test demo where nothing exciting happens the whole way through. The only thing I remember is Clooney trying to hit on Bullock. Fail.
Some movies manage to walk the line of quality with such finesse that it leads to “good-bad” movies. Movies so bad they somehow break through the other side and end up good. Willys Wonderland is not one of those movies. It’s just unapologetically bad. It’s devoid of any of the qualities that make a good-bad movie, leading to an empty, boring and sometimes painful 90 minutes. The FNAF-esque plot is threadbare, the dialogue is stilted and unquotable, the production is poor, Nic is a literal silent protagonist so there aren’t even any classic Cage one-liners to grin at. The animatronic fights lack impact or comedic timing and the effects on some of the caricatures are student film quality. If you’re baked out of your mind and need a Nic Cage fix, Willys Wonderland will probably scratch the itch, but anyone going into this sober should seek out another from Nics repertoire for a more satisfying hit. Mandy or Color Out of Space will serve you much better, trust me.
absolute garbage. I know 5 to 6 year olds with more plausable and entertaining story writing skills.
I really needed Nic Cage to spit out corny one-liners just before he massacres sentient animatronics and I feel like I was robbed of that.
This is one hour and 20 minutes of people screaming eachother's names while running around in a field of tall grass.
Literally. Nothing else.
A masterpiece it's not, but what makes this one special is the sheer stupidity, the comedy, the over-acting, and the gore. All-in-all the most politically incorrect piece of film ever made. Great fun for any cult classic lovers out there...
If you think Inception had a complicated plot, this movie isn't for you. Really. There's charts with loops on the Internet which show the plot and what's happening when. You'll probably need to watch this movie at least twice.
It's very, very good.
I'm ashamed for buying a cinema ticket and I funded his next job . Disturbed mind
Underrated and underappreciated for sure.
I feel like something is missing in this movie. Perhaps beacuse of the novel, even though the movie should explain why her auntie know so much, and it was the big deal of that painting.
And what Makoto meant when she said "I'll come running" to Chiaki after he told he would be waiting her in the future.
If you find yourself with an hour and a half spare, do yourself a favour......go for a walk.
Absolutely sensational. Well worth the wait for it to come to my theatre! Cate Blanchett is incredible and this film was a masterpiece and I would see it again and again and again.
A chilling classic horror/drama with the atmosphere of the 70's. An adaptation of a Stephen King's novel and directed by Brian De Palma that tells the story of Carrie a girl that is bullied in school and psychologicaly and physical abused by her christian fanatic mother.
I found some Hitchcock's elements in the film and I can see that De Palma was influenced by his works, particularly in some of the camera work and in the music score.
Another really interesting thing is the ending, now I understand where many others came up with that idea! This ending is one of the most used endings in horror/terror films! You'll understand when you see it.
Sissy Spacek is great as Carrie very creepy and believable. Piper Laurie is also amazing playing Carrie's fanatic mother.
This year will be released the remake of this film with Chloe Grace Moretz in the role of Carrie and Julianne Moore as her mother, I'm interested to know how it will be.
I was 10 when I went to the cinema watch this movie for the first time, and to this day it still is the deepest movie I've ever seen. I had the book at my home but I lost it while moving out and unfortunately never got to read it (yet). The plot is awesome and it's based on true science - the factorization into primes, for instance, that the aliens use to communicate with us, was actually tried out (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arecibo_message) and you can learn more about it in a fascinating paper called "A Tale of Two Sieves" by mathematician Carl Pomerance:
"The cardinality of 1679 was chosen because it is a semiprime (the product of two prime numbers), to be arranged rectangularly as 73 rows by 23 columns".
@BenFranklin: Thanks for the suggestion, regarding the DNA - I saw a similar theory in Through the Wormhole I think (or was it NOVA ScienceNOW?) S02E09 or S03E02 but I Googled a bit and I think they haven't found an intelligent slope in our DNA plotting, the frequency seems to be near-randomic.
a masterpiece... you just can't put it out in words...
An absolute masterpiece. No other words.
It's just not the same anymore... An "ok" action flick without a trace of Bond, just like the previous Craig's Bonds.
every passing day this film only gets more current...
