Ok.
I enjoyed this episode. There’s a lot going on here that I think the writers have ideologically embedded into the show.
At the end of the episode the statement “There are two children that will never be born, and a future that will” sums up the whole episode - as well as putting the finger squarely on and an ideology that’s extremely invasive in the circles of our “Hollywood elite” and through it a rift in society has formed and is growing wider.
The ideology and idea is, our earths finite resources are being stretched too much to support the number of people we have. Since high population numbers require high energy usage, that energy must come from somewhere and since much of the energy being used comes from fossil fuels. Our earth is being put at risk, due to the belief in the existential threat of climate change. The idea then is, anything justifies a lowering of the earths population to reduce energy usage. (Pandemics, wars, abortions, etc).
It is an ideological view that’s causing a conflict. This show is subtly trying to slip that concept into the minds of the population so it becomes an acceptable concept.
Great show, good writing, very enjoyable. It’s just be aware that what your watching is pushing a message you’ve either already accepted and ingrained into your beliefs, or it’s trying to.
Woah! Expectations Exceed!
I came into this, with very low expectations. The previous star-treks are a tough act to follow. Yet, this first episode surprised me. It set the stage for some great storytelling. Opening up a whole new chapter in star trek's already diverse universe.
This episode was rightly titled Remembrance, it set the stage for what I hope to be some exciting and amazing stories. It showed some really cool tech, some really cool places. If the show can keep going with this and even greater enthusiasm, we are in for one hell of an amazing show.
The one worry I have is Patrick Stewart, he is an amazing actor that's driving these stories. The whole existence of the show revolves around him, and consequently his health. The question I find myself asking is, does he have it in him? He is one hell of an amazing actor. Yet, the show is missing chemistry - desperately trying to leverage past relationships to build relevance. Time will tell if this works, I suspect there is hidden potential yet to be realized in some of the new actors. They're just "no name" actors standing in stark contrast to a legend, Patrick Stewart.
I'm definitely going to be following this show. There is definitely some potential here. So, I'm going to sit back - and try not to be too harsh and critical. I want to take it in for what it is.
Enjoy it - while it lasts. Lets hope 5+ seasons.
Ah yes. - HALO! Thank you!
Keep telling a HALO story, focus on it being HALO. Even if it's an adaptation of the original story line, that's fine. Just keep it HALO, and please don't insert all the little social nonsense bits n pieces and references that we are all fighting about today. I appreciate a story, that is pure entertainment - not a preaching brow beating session.
Right now, HALO tells an entertaining story - keep it that way please.
Good job writers & actors!
This is one show you definitely want to add to your list of shows to watch.
As for the show content so far, it seems like there's a bit of a slow start to this season. I expect there's a buildup to something bigger, but I'm willing to sit back and just enjoy the ride. Not quite what I was expecting after the season 1 finally. But I'm willing to give it a shot.
I'm definitely missing the SPOILER: removal of Cortana from master chief. I hope he is able to get her back. It just feels kinda like a sitcom with him fighting back against his annoying boss.
Let's just sit back, give it a chance and see where the story goes.
Ok, so I've been waiting for this show since I heard about it.
Well worth the wait!
The episodes are way shorter than I was hoping for, lets hope for multiple seasons for years to come.
The first episode was barely a taste of what's to come.
I actually like the fact that its not all out at once to binge watch. This lets me watch each episode as it comes out and savor it until the next one.
All in all, this series is shaping up into being quality entertainment that I suspect is going to bring me hours of enjoyment.
It reminds me of 'firefly' and that gritty space cowboy feel to it, set in the star wars universe.
Good job Disney - Its a huge job to live up to the "Star Wars" name, to produce a show that's worthy of carrying on the name, is a tall order. If what I have seen so far, quality acting, amazing story, attention to details, holds true for the rest of the run of this series. Its going to be a hit - and a well deserved one.
The creative team and workers deserve a round of applause for a job well done. - Keep up the good work Disney.
