One day I will sit down to write a thorough review but, for now, hear this:
Maniac is one of the best series to have ever been made, and it's cult following will come to it in due time. It is heartfelt and heart-wrenching; it is mesmerizing and enchanting; it is empathetic and thoughtful in every regard. The creators put so much love into every tiny detail of this show and, believe me, you catch something new with every single re-watch. This is the only piece of media I refuse to hear any other word about.
Take your time to fall in love with this short series, and it will reward you.
When I first saw it, this episode was almost my breaking point. A lot of moments in Mr. Robot have hit too close to home, but this was one moment stretched out over an entire episode and I almost said I couldn't do it. Take your time and wait it out.
Make it to the end. This episode is now a safe haven I return to when I need it. Have patience in yourself.
Acknowledged by the Tourette's Association of America and portraying a real learning opportunity for both its characters and audience, all neatly wrapped up in a bow with Cartman getting burned... In terms of South Park episodes, 10-fckng-stars. Absolutely golden.
"Everything is amazing." Someone had already commented a review with this very statement, but it must be reiterated: Please. You have an hour. You do. This film might just change your life, or at the very least remind you that you and everyone around you is simply human. I promise this movie is worth your time. Spread some love and experience life, if they are the only things you do.
There really is not much more to say than that this series is an utter masterpiece. I can't even fathom what further seasons will bring to the table. Saying the art and directing and audioscaping are absolutely perfect is somehow an understatement. You just have to experience it all for yourself.
This anime is a classic of it's era. I first saw Ouran more than a decade ago as a young kid and, in immediate hindsight, oh, god, why, but re-watching it as an adult has brought me so much insight. OHSHC is off-the-wall goofy, and at least for the first fourth or third of the show, questionably creepy. Follow through this series and you'll understand why each character is the way they are and how they are self-aware of their taboos, how they all are just a genuine band of friends trying to make the world a better place and the people they encounter happy. ...Not to say that this anime is that deep, although the lessons can be wholesome. It's a cute one if you let it be. You will fall in love with all of the characters, they're all extremely memorable.
...Huh. One prefacing comment before my real discussion: I can't tell if this is Queerbait: The Anime or if you're supposed to give into the heavy implications. (One of the many, many instances: "Reki, my love... of skateboarding is because of you.") Off the bat, this anime is gorgeous. I love the physics and attention to detail in (most of [see below]) the character's movements, posing, and weight. This show really seemed to have a lot of love and care for the subject matter of skating, and it such a great series to get hyped for the hobby/sport. The characters are lovable and memorable... Well, except the elephant in the room. Basically, the whole schtick of the anime is about skateboard racing where sabotage is free game. ...But the antagonist takes it overboard time and time again without consequence. Surely someone would think to stop him, right? I found it really distracting, also, that Adam was the only one who seemed to consistently defy physics. The message of the overall show is kinda corny, but it's cute in it's own right, too. Disorganized thoughts here, but Reki's three-episode-long pout fest was kind of annoying and disheartening, as well. The ending was unfortunately weak and I really wished the main antagonist had more resolve, redemption, or character development, because it was very clear he had a devastating backstory that could have contributed to his current state. Anyways, 8/10, I will probably watch it again. Oh, and, P.S: The soundtrack is sick.
I actually liked this one. This movie requires a very specific pallete for a specific taste of 'demented;' yes, it's ultimately f*cked up for no reason, but that's the entire point. It doesn't have a moral or theme or take-away, it's just some story to be told. Writing-wise, I wish the big plot-point (Wallace's "transformation") was a slower burn so it gave me a reason to actually care whether [they] lived or died, but that's truly my only gripe. If anything, if you go into this film assuming it's going to be balls-to-the-wall f*cked up, you might just be underwhelmed. Remember to laugh. It's a comedy.
This isn't a Christmas movie at all.
My god this episode is surprisingly genuinely sad
This episode on: Stan punches me in the heart.
"GETTING RID OF TOOTH DECAY IS WHAT I'M TRYNA F*CKIN' DO!!"
Say what you want about Georgia Madchen and Doctor Suctliffe. Say what you want about the human cello and the totem pole. Yeah, future mutilations and characters are horrifying, too, but damn Will as Gideon in the back of the van is another level of terrifying.
They must've "gotten a little high" to come up with this one.
The counter is icing on the cake.
Stan: "What? You're gonna miss them saying 'shit' on tv!"
Kyle: "I don't really give a fuck!"
If you hate Terrance and Phillip, skip this episode. You won't miss a thing. Just as the Trakt description reads, it really isn't a continuation from the last season's cliffhanger.
"Screw you guys, I am king lesbian!"
Really mad about how Elsa goes out of her way to try and trigger her own son? I don't really understand why that was a point to be made through her so much as it was; if it is/was a matter of "I am scared of my son leaving me when he eventually moves out and moves on from the family," then it should have been made more clear, this reasoning I have is only a hunch in the first place.
Genuinely such a good episode. Love the Hallmark ending (with a MITM twist, of course :))
Finally Lois has a real reason to be p!ssed off.
Love the return of the Gay Fish :)
The Butters/Kenny/Jimmy bit is so damn funny
I prematurely started to write a comment on "oh, despite how much i hate cartman, i also hate seeing him cry!" Don't be fooled! Oh, how far he will go.
Such a great episode, the lack of real ending rules.
This one's hard to watch for a lot of reasons.
'Somethin' really sweet about Cartman rescuing a bunch of cats. I didn't think this episode would be up my alley, but it rules.
This is actually what it feels like to play Guitar Hero.
Despite how dumb this episode is I couldn't stop laughing through it good god
"Can I just have some Spaghetti-Os?!"
One of the best, an absolute favourite. Truly just kids being kids and folks jumping the gun.
