I can't believe i was so excited to see Maria Hill again and they killed her off in the first episode. You can't do that to me.
I would rather shit in my hands and clap than watch this movie to the end.
This was the first movie I have ever walked out of the cinema after 45 minutes.
Note to myself, read before sign!!!
I don't care what you think or what you have to say about it, but I'm fûqîňğ loving it!!!
Fans of Wes Anderson will certainly have a good time with "Asteroid City". Like most of the director's other projects, the film is funny, quirky, visually unique, and generally incredibly creative. On top of that, as usual, the cast is chock-full of well-known actors. Although several attempts have been made to imitate Anderson's style, no one has been successful thus far.
Despite my praises, however, there are a few weak points. I don't think Anderson's new film will persuade his detractors. On the contrary, he drifts further away from attempting to tell a coherent story. It is quite noticeable that the framework of the story is hardly present in his more recent films. Individual scenes are still often fantastic, but when combined, they don't always make for a strong overall film.
All in all, though, I continue to be satisfied. As I said, fans of Wes Anderson will definitely like "Asteroid City." And I count myself among that group for sure.
Scale it down, Wes. I’ve been a fan of everything he’s done since Fantastic Mr. Fox, and this is the first one in a long time that doesn’t sit well with me. It’s easily his loosest film since The Darjeerling Limited, and as a result he kinda lost sight of a coherent narrative here. It simply has too many characters, and while they’re all decently interesting, none of the arcs are developed to a point where I felt an emotional pay-off. The postmodern/meta stuff tanks the pacing and adds little to the overall narrative. There’s an attempt to use that layer to give the film a deeper meaning in the third act, but it feels like an anticlimax. The deeper meaning is that there is no deeper meaning, we’re just putting on a show . Ok? Did Rian Johnson have input on this script? Is this Wes trolling the people who claim that he’s style over substance? Add to that that this is one of his films that relies the least on comedy, and I can only conclude that this might just be his weakest screenplay. The reason why I still like it, however, is mostly because of the technical aspects. The cinematography, set design, editing and music are all fantastic and I’m continuously amazed by how this man is able to build a complete, original world for every new film. There’s always enough quirk and detail in the frame to keep the movie alive. The acting’s also really solid, I don’t quite get the complaint from some people that it’s emotionless. While the delivery is as deadpan as ever, the actors add plenty of emotion though the tone and cadence of their voice. Overall, I think he really needs to stop worrying about topping the scale of his last film, because it’s making him lose focus as a director and writer. It’s enjoyable, but for me it’s his worst next to The Life Aquatic.
6/10
One of the series that marks the History Channel's shift from documentaries/education to comedy/entertainment . This series is packed to the bursting point with the full spectrum of misdirection, deception, half-truths and out-right bunk. Sprinkled in a generous helping of rhetorical questions posing as "maybes" and introspection, Ancient Aliens is a systematic dismantling of rational thought, scientific process and anything resembling academic rigor.
That was absolutely brilliant, top 10 Black Mirror episodes possibly (which is saying a lot). Incredible acting from everyone involved and kept me invested throughout its entirety.
Am I the only one who wants a show just based on the wall. It’s hands down the best part of this series
Whatever! I loved it and need a second season asap.
That dudes hair has definitely been in orbit
The wall side story is the best thing about this show
Grabs you by the throat and doesn’t let go until the end. Edge of your seat stuff & scarier than most horror films. A thrilling story about the dangers of online profiles and social media. Another epic film from Philip Barantini.
I want to see Sofia get her hands dirty now. Maybe some horror. Definitely some horror.
On the news I heard that Sofia was worried she wouldn't be taken seriously in a dramatic role, I understand in the way a Woman who falls under that traditional "super hot bimbo/tropy wife" role, but she has more than proved her talent in Modern Family (hell, they even thought she was just a trophy wife at the beginning, but that quickly changed didn't it ;) ) alone as far as I am concerned.
I don't like binging new shows, I love to take the time and process each episode, but I could not stop watching it was so damn good. I don't even watch narco-esque shows or movies, I only watched it after I heard her comment on the news doubting herself, and if you have any question about the truth of her statement... Episode 4, go to the 26 minute mark (something like that when she starts her speech) and in a spoiler free way, that alone was the minute where any doubt you may have had left should been gone.
I hope the hate due to it being a female lead is minimal (or gone), as this really deserves to be looked at during the awards season.
This isn't what you expect.
It is that rare gem of originality from movie makers. It is funny, surreal, touching, weird, entertaining
You might watch it because of the crazy synopsis, but it is much more
Is it brilliant? No. Should you watch it? Yes.
Just give me a show about the wall people
A Christmas creature feature set during a blizzard. Lots of Christmas decorations and LED colors. I was expecting much lower quality filmmaking but this was actually decent; cool camerawork, some good dialogue, funny dark humor, the set does the job and good acting mostly from the mother and daughter—which I recognized from the Snowpiercer TV series, I guess she likes the cold. The movie needed a lot more of her, she disappears from time to time and that's when the movie drops in quality.
Loved the snow tunnel scene even though that was poor decision making. The transformation scene and the 'electric' sequence in the third act was peak, great practical effects and creature design. I wasn't really on board with the twist at the end but it was redeemed with the final shot.
Terrible af. They shouldn't have released this movie.
I find this documentary highly compelling and Incredible interesting.
I'm enjoying this show a lot. Didn't aspect to much of it at first, turned out to be a very decent show to be watching, with good actors and great acting.
"He can read minds... and he f*cks."
This was toad-ally fun! Felt like an extended V/H/S segment. I kinda dig the three characters and their funny dynamics (the Norma Jean impression was pretty good). Quite a bit of funny moments and funny objects like the gift shop and the parking sign was hilarious.
For a found footage movie it's well shot, might be unrealistic but at least the camera doesn't constantly conveniently cut away from all the fun. I didn't find it scary mostly because Frogman comes off as a funny character but it was definitely creepy in some parts. We only scratched the surface but I was intrigued with the mythology here. The final 20-30 minutes were a blast, might not work for everyone but I love how silly it got.
It says "Frogman will return" at the end and I would totally watch another one of these.
All hail Frogman!
Was it good? No. But was it so heckin fun? Yes. A cryptid found footage that like most of the genre, had a slow meandering beginning that paid off in the last half hour. Absolutely did not see where it was headed and was delightfully caught off guard. So silly.
You probably didn't know, you're all living in my wall!
I'm really impressed. This movie truly is a gem. Realistics scènes, some a little overdone. Great story overall, lots of action and emotion, enough to keep you glued to the tube.
I love it.
This was totally unexpected a really awesome movie. I recommend you to watch this gem.
It was pretty bad to begin with and then making it 2 hours was even worse. By the end, I was just fast forwarding to get it over with.
I never bothered to watch this movie, thought it would be terrible and a waste of time. I finally just did watched it and now I regret I didn't earlier. What a awesome movie, I really enjoyed a lot. Pretty sure I'll be watching it again in the near future.
Bizarre and confusing. Interesting is, it kept me interested for actually nothing really interesting. It's a unusual unpredictable movie.
